Bryan Fischer’s Big Fail at Science and Reality | Truth Wins Out

Rushing to Rubio’s rescue, the virulently anti-gay and morally feral Bryan Fischer (pictured) of the American Family Association weighed in with an article entitled, “Help for Marco Rubio: scientific evidence for a young earth.” Fischer bragged that “A full 46% of the American people, according to Gallup, believe that God created humans in their present form within the last 10,000 years.”

[,,,]
Most Americans do not understand the difference between a ‘theory’ as a hunch, supposition, or speculation and the scientific definition of a theory which is “a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world, based on a body of facts that have been repeatedly confirmed through observation and experiment,,,

[,,,]
Bryan Fischer proves he is clueless about scientific theory when he states: “ And these theories about the age of the earth and man are just that, by the way, theories, since nobody was there to watch it happen.”

Christian Group Says Demon Sex Makes You Gay | Alternet

"Can demons engage in sexual behaviors with humans?" the magazine asks. Why yes, they can! At least according to the article's primary source, a former stripper-turned-ministry leader named Contessa Adams. Adams shares her decades-long struggle with demon sex, sparing no horrible, sexy detail:

[,,,]
The primary demon fighter in the modern Christian world is the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR), a global network of Charismatic Christian ministries devoted to Dominionism, the idea that they must take over public institutions in order to save America and the world from ... demons (and gays, of course),,,

Bruce Wilson, who's reported on the movement for years, tells Alternet, "for the apostles and prophets of the New Apostolic Reformation, demon powers, and also divine curses -- incurred by human unfaithfulness to God's plan, are at the root of virtually any and all conceivable misfortunes, from crime trends, drops in the stock market, and declining SAT scores, to headaches and dandruff. I mean that literally."

[,,,]
As Rachel Tabachnik, who's done extensive reporting on NAR,  told NPR,  "The apostles teach what's called 'strategic level spiritual warfare' [because they believe that the] reason why there is sin and corruption and poverty on the Earth is because the Earth is controlled by a hierarchy of demons under the authority of Satan."

[,,,]
Here are just a few places you might encounter Satan's minions,,,

Daily Kos: Men are all unmarriageable slackers now because feminism

So it has gone from partnership to war,,,nothing like changing their tactics mid stream, since they found they couldn't legislate submissiveness,,,and Venker has learned from the best,,,

Venker has talked to lots of men and women over the years, and she's discovered the cold hard truth:

"And in doing so, I’ve accidentally stumbled upon a subculture of men who’ve told me, in no uncertain terms, that they’re never getting married. When I ask them why, the answer is always the same.

"Women aren’t women anymore."

[,,,]
As we learned in feminism indoctrination class back in kindergarten, between coloring and nap time, you are the enemy and we must destroy you so we can take what is rightfully ours—those 25 percent smaller paychecks, for example, or the visits to our doctors that must be pre-approved by woman-hating men in Congress. That's our right, and we have so taken it from you with our feminism and our anger! No wonder you don't want to marry us!

The worst part, of course, is what we've done to you with our feminism and our pedestal-knocking and whatnot. We've destroyed your once-manly manhood, so now you're pretty much worthless to everyone:

[,,,]
It all makes perfect sense now. You're not a loser who lives with his parents, pays for gas with the spare change found on the floor of your car, and doesn't want to have a real job because that's just conforming to The Man. Well, maybe you are, but it's not your fault. It's our fault. We lousy Not-Women, with our careers and our ability to buy groceries on a regular basis—we did this to you.

Fire Kills 112 Workers Making Clothes for US Brands - Yahoo! News

First thing I thought of when I heard about this was the Triangle Shirtwaist factory fire in NYC on march 25, 1911,,,it was that fire that led to legislation requiring improved factory safety standards,,,

Officials in Bangladesh said the flames at the Tazreen Fashions factory outside Dhaka spread rapidly on the ground floor, trapping those on the higher floors of the nine-story building. There were no exterior fire escapes, according to officials, and many died after jumping from upper floors to escape the flames.

[,,,]
Because the managers had locked the doors to the stairwells and exits – a common practice at the time to prevent pilferage and unauthorized breaks– many of the workers who could not escape the burning building jumped from the eighth, ninth, and tenth floors to the streets below. Why FedEx And UPS Want The Postal Service To Survive | Editors Pick | Minyanville's Wall Street

An interesting take on a "unique" partnership,,,

“FedEx, UPS, and the US Postal Service are more business partners today than they are competitors,” David Hendel, an attorney in the Postal Service Contracting practice at the law firm of Husch Blackwell, who compiles an annual list of the Postal Service’s top contractors, tells me. (FedEx and UPS are far from the only companies that enjoy lucrative partnerships with the Postal Service. A quick scan of the Husch Blackwell list shows Northrop Grumman (NOC) taking in $410 million from Postal Service contracts last year. IBM (IBM) made $108 million from Postal Service contracts. And United Airlines (UAL) brought in $102 million.)

Santorum ‘open’ to another presidential run | The Raw Story

And the posturing starts,,,

During his campaign, Santorum vowed to limit abortion, ban same sex marriage, crack down on Internet pornography, repeal Obamacare and cut taxes. He also pledged to aggressively defend Israel and confront Iran over its nuclear program.

Santorum told the Weekly Standard that Romney should have made the 2012 election a referendum “on what it means to be an American.” He said Romney did a poor job of showing the American people that Obama was leading the country towards “European socialism.”

From my understanding, every public official takes an oath to uphold the laws of their state/municipality,,,any that do not abide by that oath should be removed from those positions,,,the attempt to influence government employees to operate counter to civil law... subversion...and a final point, religious freedom ends at the point it begins to infringe on the freedoms of others,,,

Report: A Living Wage Would Boost Economic Growth & Employment ‹ I Acknowledge Class Warfare Exists

Many people say raising the minimum wage is a job killer. In real wage terms (when you factor in inflation) – the minimum wage is lower today than at any time from 1956 to 1983. The money a person makes today on minimum wage buys less than it would during those years. But the report found that contrary to the myth that jobs will be lost – we would see an increase in jobs overall due to strengthening the buying power of those making these entry level wages and thus we would see economic growth. In addition to this – over 750k people would be lifted out of poverty with another 750k would see significant personal gains from near poverty levels. The bottom line is this – raising the minimum wage is a major win for the middle and lower classes.

Ann Coulter At Fordham University: School President Joseph M. McShane Blasts College Republicans For Inviting Her

To err is human, learning is divine,,,and this has nothing to do with free speech,,,

"To say that I am disappointed with the judgment and maturity of the College Republicans, however, would be a tremendous understatement," McShane wrote. "There are many people who can speak to the conservative point of view with integrity and conviction, but Ms. Coulter is not among them. Her rhetoric is often hateful and needlessly provocative—more heat than light—and her message is aimed squarely at the darker side of our nature."

McShane said preventing Coulter from speaking would "counter one wrong with another," and explicitly stated he wouldn't forbid the CRs from having her speak at the Jesuit university. Nevertheless, the Fordham CRs beat him to it anyway and quickly rescinded the invitation to Coulter.

"The College Republicans regret the controversy surrounding our planned lecture featuring Ann Coulter," they wrote in a statement announcing the cancellation. "The size and severity of opposition to this event have caught us by surprise and caused us to question our decision to welcome her to Rose Hill."

[,,,]
"Allow me to give credit where it is due: the leadership of the College Republicans acted quickly, took responsibility for their decisions and expressed their regrets sincerely and eloquently," McShane said. GOP ReBiblicans Dominated Congressional Races | God's Own Party?

The map below shows where ReBiblicans had majority “WINS” (represented in Kryptonite Green) and majority “LOSSES” (represented in Democrat blue) by ReBiblican candidates. And – not to be a spoiler, the WINS took the night in congressional races. Hover over each state to see a snapshot of the count results – and then click to open and read a summary of each candidate. On the summary page you will see the following icons which allows you to see at-a-glance who won and who lost.

GOP ReBiblicans Dominated Congressional Races | God's Own Party?

Republicans - Oust ReBiblicans & Save Your Party

It really is that simple. They lost because their Party was steeple-jacked in the late 1980s by fake republicans replacing the moderates. This resulted in a complete infestation by religious zealots who brought a wave – some intentional, some not – of racists, sovereign citizens, paranoid doomsdayers, immigrant-phobic, homophobic and low-information people with them who vote and all this is happily funded and promoted by plutocrats with huge wallets.

[,,,]
A growing number of mainstream Christians have been siphoned into the bible-based cult of Christian Dominionism and thoroughly indoctrinated. They have unknowingly been converted generally know as little about the Bible as they do about America’s real history and Civics 101. They have handily transformed the Republican Party into the ReBiblican Party.

[,,,]
Do not mistake all this chaos within the Republican Party as simply a takeover by overly zealous Christians. Many of the faces now associated as Rs are not now, nor have they ever been, true republicans. Politicians such as Sarah Palin, Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, Jim Inhofe, Todd Akin, Richard Mourdock, Rick Santorum, and literally hundreds more are actually theocrats which is why we have branded them as ReBiblicans so that there is a clear distinction. (See our summaries of over 300 ReBiblicans who ran for seats in 2012 alone on our interactive map). There is a false notion that there are just a few of them so no need to worry.

[,,,]
The Republican Party has one real chance at surviving – but to do that – they must remove biblical governance from their platform or they will never be able to regain respect, nor a large enough demographic, to remain a viable alternative for those American conservatives whose personal faith – while devout – understand that we are a secular nation where church and state is essential

It should be noted that these are informal, citizens’ petitions asking the Obama administration to allow these states to “peacefully withdraw from the United States and form [their] own government(s).” There has been no action to this end by any state legislature, nor is there likely to be, which makes this simply “sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

There are several reasons why no state legislature is likely to pursue anything resembling secession, the first being that no single state, other than California or possibly New York, has a large enough and diverse enough economy to stand on its own,,,

Red Staters (and More) Already Talking Secession After Obama Victory | Alternet

,,,but the geographical ironies were perhaps less rich then, since this year the electoral map looks suspiciously like slave states and free states lining up in opposition.

[,,,]
Again, to be fair, conservatives are far from the only ones who have talked secession when politics don't go their way. Ultra-progressive Vermont has a left-libertarian secessionist party, in fact. But the combination of all this secessionist talk with the demographic defeat for white voters and electoral defeat for former slave states, the anger over the re-election of a black president supported by "them", and the generalized nativist rhetoric coming out of the right wing all campaign season long, and you have a more frightening example of secessionist talk than usual.

And recently, Maj. Andrew Craibe, the media relations officer for Australia's southern territory, reminded us of that fact by agreeing on-air with two gay radio hosts that the Salvation Army believes gay people "should die." The group quickly scrambled to clarify Craibe's remark — after all, the Salvation Army's mission is to "preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination" — but this is hardly the Salvation Army's first run-in with the gay community. SignOn.org - Replace Mitch McConnell with Susan Collins as Minority Leader

While good qualifications, there are far more pressing reasons why Susan Collins would make a better minority leader in the Senate.
  • Currently holds the record for most continuous votes taken
  • Positions on LGBT rights are in the mainstream
  • Strong pro-business without being anti-worker
  • Good at balancing the needs of the environment with business demands
  • Pro-American focus on trade, including enacting punishments against countries which engage in currency manipulation
  • Against the Citizens United decision

Bishop James Magness: Veterans Day: Healing the Wounds of Those Who've Served Us -- A Spiritual Perspective

An additional conclusion can be made that we are on the verge of becoming blind to service members and veterans; that we have forgotten about them, and therefore no longer care about them. Even in the recent presidential debates, aside from the argument over who would cut or fund "defense spending" to include a moderately interesting comment about Navy ships and "horses and bayonets," we hardly heard any mention of the military. We heard even less about the fact that every day our service-members continue to be engaged in armed conflict in Afghanistan.

[,,,]
Why bring out these hard statistics, you may ask? Can't you just leave well enough alone and let this tragic war fade into the rearview mirror of historic obscurity? Let me answer my own questions. I am a person of faith and a Christian. In my opinion, one of the most influential sayings of Jesus in the Christian Scriptures is this one: "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends" (John 15.12, NRSV).

If people of faith are going to engage in God's mission of healing, forgiving and restoring, we have to know the facts. If we are serious about healing, we will soon find ourselves chest deep in repentance and penance. The service members and veterans are the unseen citizens who have been going to war, OUR WAR, for more than 10 years. I recognize that many of us have little or no sympathy with the war.

However, that does not absolve us of the need to care for these citizens who are our children, neighbors, sisters and brothers. How will we love those who have been willing to lay down their lives for us? Do we care enough about service members and about veterans to help them? Though there are some technical and organizational fixes to the solution for helping service members and veterans that may not be the fix for God's people. God calls us to more than a simple fix. The first principle is, I believe, to take seriously Jesus' mandate of love.

Three Ways The GOP Will Still Try To Weaken Obamacare | ThinkProgress

But Boehner was quick to walk back his comments via Twitter, reasserting that the GOP’s wish is still to fully repeal or severely dismantle the law. Since the Senate and the presidency remains solidly in Democratic hands, the GOP has their work cut out for them. But that doesn’t mean they won’t try their best to beat back, sue, and defund Obamacare provisions in an effort to neuter the law at the cost of Americans’ health and financial security. Here are three ways that the GOP will likely attempt to attack and undermine Obamacare provisions:

1) Denying federal insurance subsidies to Americans under health exchanges.

2) Resisting the Medicaid expansion.

3) Undermining the medical device tax and Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB).

Americans can expect continued battles over the proper funding and implementation of Obamacare in the coming months —

Las Vegas CEO Reportedly Fired 22 Workers Because Of Obama's Reelection

If the story proves true, "David" would be among the first CEOs, if not the first outright, to fire workers as a direct result of Obama's reelection, a threat made many times before the presidential election. The new political push by employers was the result of both the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision, which made such declarations legal, and a June conference call in which Mitt Romney urged employers to tell their workers how they voted.

Obamacare Layoffs: Georgia Businessman Claims He Fired Workers Because Obama Won

 Can we say ASSHOLE,,,

“I had to lay two full-timers off to get under the 50-person cap,” Stu told C-SPAN. “I tried to make sure that the people I had to lay off voted for Obama.”

Firing workers based on political affiliation may land employers in hot water. "It's possible that employees could have some protection under various laws that exist," said Risa Lieberwitz, professor of labor and employment law at the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations.

[,,,]
Retaliation for a vote may not qualify as intimidation. But employers who fire workers or cut their hours based on their vote could face additional legal threats from a few state and local laws, which specifically ban retaliating against employees based on their voting preferences.

Papa John's CEO John Schnatter Says Company Will Reduce Workers' Hours In Response To Obamacare

The sad thing is,,,boycotting places like this will only hurt the employees in the long run,,,so what is a consumer to do??  How bout a letter writing campaign stating as a consumer we're willing to pay the extra 15 cents IF you provide the insurance,,,

Papa John’s CEO John Schnatter said he plans on passing the costs of health care reform to his business onto his workers. Schnatter said he will likely reduce workers’ hours, as a result of President Obama's reelection, the Naples News reports. Schnatter made headlines over the summer when he told shareholders that the cost of a Papa John’s pizza will increase by between 11 and 14 cents due to Obamacare.

[,,,]
Schnatter went on to say he's neither in support of, nor against the Affordable Care Act, even admitting that "the good news is 100 percent of the population is going to have health insurance.” But he’s not the only one in the chain restaurant industry to admit that workers hours may be reduced, since Obamacare mandates that only employees that work more than 30 hours per week are covered under their employers health insurance plan. For example, Darden restaurants, the parent company of Olive Garden and Red Lobster, has already experimented with reducing workers hours in anticipation of the legislation.

Certainly, if it can be proven that employers are punishing their employees for exercising their electoral freedoms to support and vote for the candidate of their choice; it would raise serious legal issues and may even lead to ‘wrongful termination’ suits in some jurisdictions, as well as a call for new laws to protect our democratic rights.

Employers are entering new–uncharted–territory here, as they exert more and more influence on workers which may—thanks to the infamous Citizens United decision by the Supreme Court—decide political outcomes. This is especially true in tight races like we have just seen, where a particular sector of the economy—like the auto industry—might play a pivotal role in a given state or states and, thus, swing an election.

[,,,]
While it is too soon to really know how widespread such “business decisions” (or actual revenge) will be in the wake of this week’s election, it is—nonetheless—disturbing that a new dynamic has apparently entered our democratic process…open employer influence (pre-election) and retribution (post-election) of the very freedom of expression of their employees, in exercising their right to vote for the candidate(s) of their choice.

You’re fired! Boehner, GOP bosses must go

A strong statement coming from "within",,,

“Romney took good conservative positions. The problem is, he did not follow through,” Viguerie said. “Phyllis Schlafly says the Republican platform adopted in Tampa this past August was probably the most conservative platform ever. And I think that’s probably true, but Romney did not run on the platform, and the Republican Party did not run on the platform.”

[,,,]
“The idea that conservatives need to abandon our principles and move left is nonsense,” he said. “The way that we win elections and not just appeal to the base but to the American people is when we make the campaign about our issues, our views our values. Republicans never win national elections unless we nationalize the elections and present to the voters two dramatically different worldviews – a worldview of a big, all-encompassing, powerful government versus a small government, individual responsibility, traditional values, lower taxes (and a) balanced budget.”

[,,,]
What I would like to see from them is that they resign,” he said, noting that in most governments party leaders step down in the wake of massive failures like Obama’s re-election. “This president was just hanging on by his fingernails. Most people expected he would lose his re-election, and he won a strong victory. The leadership of the party, including (Reince) Priebus at the Republican National Committee, Speaker Boehner and Leader Mitch McConnell and all the others, including John Cornyn of the Senate campaign committee, they all need to resign and bring some new leaders in there.”

Republican Reckoning Begins After Revealing Defeat

Election fallout will be interesting to see if the repugs can recover from this debacle and in what way,,,

The GOP was blindsided Tuesday, but also revealed. The Democrats' ground organization was beyond anything they'd imagined, pulling in new voters with stunning effectiveness. It exposed a major weakness in the Republican approach to winning elections, practically and intellectually.

[,,,]
"The battle to retake the Republican Party begins today," railed Richard Viguerie, a veteran of the conservative movement, who called on "the failed Republican leadership" to resign, and then named the leaders of the GOP in the House and Senate, as well as the head of the Republican National Convention.

[,,,]
There were plenty of attacks on Romney himself, as well, with Erickson saying that he "stood for nothing and everything at the same time," and that his advisers were " outside charlatans, many of whom will now go work for Republican Super PACs making six-figure salaries, further draining the pockets of rich Republicans when not on television explaining how awesome and expert they are."

[,,,]
" I think there was a big bomb that just went off in the party and people need to see where the bodies lie and let the dust settle," said the Republican operative. "The party needs to find the Rove of 1996, rather than Karl Rove who created George Bush and got him reelected twice and spent $500 million in the next two cycles."

Tea Party And Conservatives Are Declaring War On America After Obama Win | The New Civil Rights Movement

Claiming the Obama campaign’s narrative “worked with brutal efficiency—the definition of winning ugly,” (apparently, the Wall Street Journal editorial board believe the lies mitt Romney told day after day after day), they announced their contempt for the non-white vote:

Mr. Obama was able to patch together just enough of these voting groups,” “single women, the young and culturally liberal, government and other unions workers, and especially minority voters,” as the WSJ defines them, “to prevail even as he lost independents and won only 40% of the overall white vote, according to the exit polls.”

Because of course, the “overall white vote,” as Politico suggested too, is the “gold standard” of votes.

Because the non-white vote is only three-fifths of a vote, perhaps?

We should start reminding the disloyal opposition, aka the GOP, the Tea Party, and conservatives, that 150 years ago, America fought the Civil War. And America won.

From a personal perspective this will be war and yes it has just begun,,,from what some of my friends have been bombarding me with the bigotry and hatred is amping up and getting out of control,,,

Let’s Kill the Electoral College So We Never Have to Pay Attention to Ohio and Florida Again | Alternet

Thanks to the Electoral College, and our bizarre system of assigning electoral votes, and our decentralized and easily demogogued system of determining who gets to vote, and when, and how, the minority of voters who show up to vote in midterms and off-year elections choose the men who control the ballots and the polling places, and those men (and, once, Katherine Harris) do everything they can to ensure that people have a hard time of it.

This is what needs to change,,,voter turnout at mid-term elections,,,where the few (that actually vote) are able to determine the course of action for the many,,,

A purely popular vote-based election, in which Obama actually tried to turn out supporters in Crown Heights and Berkeley while Romney barnstormed the old Confederacy for three months, would definitely horrify Washington mandarins devoted to the Great White Independent, but it might help battle the popular perception that winning with blacks, Hispanics and young people doesn’t “count.” (It would also give slightly more power to minorities in “red” states and those oh-so-bitter conservatives in “blue” ones.)

I'm not quite sure where I personally stand,,,I can see both sides of the argument,,,

Issues I'll be watching

Now that the elections are over, we head into the midterm season,,,some pundits already talking of gearing up for 2016 (sorry even for me that's a bit too soon, let's at least wait till next week y'all,,,ok maybe inauguration),,,But seriously the Biden/Warren ticket has already been proposed as has the Clinton/Castro,,,but I digress,,,

Some of what I'll be trying to follow more closely over the course of the next 2-4 yrs:

*an organization called True the Vote - think we will be hearing much from them in regards to voter laws

*repeal of Citizens United

*will the electoral college survive another 4 yrs

*will fox news lose their fcc licensing

*freedom of the internet

*NDAA

*is there really a NWO, will we see a centralized global system

*minimum wage/equal pay

*my personal favorite church/state and the rise of Dominionism from a policy standpoint

*ACA (Obamacare)

*abortion (not so much the right to choose per se but how it has become a wedge in the bigger issue in suppression of rights, take away choice from one group opens that door to take away from others)

*"gay" marriage (again another wedge issue with bigger implications)

*legalization of pot

President Obama 2012 Victory Speech (C-SPAN) - YouTube

"This country has more wealth than any nation, but that's not what makes us rich. We have the most powerful military in history, but that's not what makes us strong. Our university and culture are the envy of the world, but that's not what keeps the world coming to our shores.

"What makes America exceptional are the bonds that hold together the most diverse nation on Earth -- the belief that our destiny is shared; that this country only works when we accept certain obligations to one another, and to future generations; that the freedom which so many Americans have fought for and died for comes with responsibilities as well as rights, and among those are love and charity and duty and patriotism. That's what makes America great."

The new dark age: Across Europe, free speech and democracy face their biggest threat since the Thirties | Mail Online

As I sit here pondering the election results that are flying by, this article came into my view. As the 2012 elections winds down a thought struck me, as important as US election are, do we need to to think more globally, and I'm not referring to wars,,,

Its themes — the freedom of the Press, the corruption of the establishment, the arrogance of the elite and the terrifying storm engulfing the economies of Europe — go to the heart of a crisis that threatens to tear the Continent apart.

[,,,]
But now, with Europe poised on the brink of a new dark age of austerity, corruption and censorship, I am beginning to wonder if we were wrong all along.
