Alternate Reality: Newt Gingrich Bizarrely Blames Obama for the Government Shutdown Debacle (Video) | Americans Against the Tea Party

So essentially he seems to feel that Obama is the one that is refusing to negotiate, and that the Republicans are perfectly happy to do what it takes for this country.

I think the entire progressive side of the political spectrum would have something to say about that. Considering that this whole conversation started with the Affordable Care Act and Republicans threatening to shut down the government over it.

Lets go all the way back to its inception; The progressive, or as Teapublicans would say, “socialist,” way of reforming the healthcare system would have been a full single-payer government run healthcare system where costs could be dictated and forced to reasonable levels. However, due to the fact that the President and the Democrats knew that the right would never vote for that, they instead decided to take what was originally a Republican idea, one that was supported by Gingrich himself in the 90′s and pushed for the individual mandate concept. Thus, what brought us to this point was a compromise to begin with.

In addition to that, anyone who’s not blinded by the lies of Faux News are well aware of the many other compromises that have been made along the way that are balked at by the right. Again, where has Gingrich been? There are always people who will ignore the truth in order to push their own agenda, but it seems like the right has an uncanny ability to just keep vomiting up whatever lies they can to avoid seeing the truth.

As has been said several times now, the right isn’t scared that the ACA is going to fail, they want it to fail. They’re scared that once it gets underway, everyone will see the good that it can do to move this country in a better direction for healthcare — and then they’ll lose half their base.
