Badger reportedly asked Baker to come to his home, but the officer declined and suggested the two meet at Crossroads Park, to which Badger agreed. Upon meeting at about 6 p.m. at the park, Badger suggested the two go to the Emporium Adult Video store and “informed Officer Baker that he had been there several times to perform sexual acts,” according to the affidavit.
Baker instead suggested they stay in his SUV, the affidavit continues. Badger then requested they get in the back seat to which the officer agreed, and Badger asked that Baker perform oral sex on him. When Baker observed Badger unzip, unbutton and begin to remove his pants, he signaled to other officers listening to the conversation via wire to move in by turning the radio to country music.
Officers then took Badger into custody and inventoried his vehicle, which reportedly contained a paper pad that was identical to the paper used to make the notes found at Morad Park.
And please don't take my concern for the legal technicalities as condoning or defending what he did. This was a public use area frequented by children. My concern is did the police handle this matter properly.
That aside, I find it fascinating that yet once again we have an ardent religionist caught with his pants down. Now based on the reports I have read, there is no indication that he publicly railed against the "evils" of homosexuality or sexuality in general. But his arrest does bring to light an issue that is prevalent within the church atmosphere as a whole, the demonizing and subordination of human sexuality and the human sex drive. We as a country, in some ways, are just plain hung up. This is the result of these religious restrictions that cause people to 'lust' after 'sinful' experiences.
