Arkansas Police Chief Defies Atheist Demands to Remove Cross From Department Property | Christian News Network

An Arkansas police chief is defying atheist demands to remove a cross from the lawn of the police department.

Searcy Police Chief Jeremy Clark told reporters this week that the cross was planted in the ground before he took office a year ago, and that he has no intentions of removing it. He stated that the cross is just outside of his private office and that no one sees it there.

So his "private" office is the street? There is a car driving past in the video, am I to assume the driver is blind?

“Someone put it there. I didn’t put it there, [and] I don’t know who did,” Clark told local television station KARK-TV.

Then how the hell did the FFRF know how it got there and Clark didn't, “We understand that these crosses were made and handed out by a local Methodist church.” Or as reported elsewhere, "A representative of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Searcy said that members of his church placed the crosses in several locations in 2011. The one on the front lawn of the Searcy Police Dept. is one of those crosses."
"The town's former Police Chief Kyle Osborne told The Daily Citizen that the crosses were placed sporadically throughout the town by members of St. Paul United Methodist Church in 2011.

"The St. Paul guys passed those out all over town and you still see them all the time," he said. "One day an officer asked me about putting it out there and I said it was OK. If it was up to me, I'd absolutely keep that cross up."
“I wasn’t going to remove it just because this organization in another state told us that we should.”

No it's not just some organization, the FFRF represents in a legal manner the complainant. They don't just willy nilly wander the country looking for issues.

“The only person that sees that cross everyday is me, unless someone is purposely trying to look for it,” he added to The Daily Citizen. “You can see these crosses in yards all over the community we serve. I don’t for one-second think a wooden cross staked into the ground is offensive to the majority of the people that we serve.”

It's not a matter of offense, it is a matter of law. As an arm of the Judicial branch of government the Police department can not endorse any religion over any other. You decide, ignorant or lying? You decide, ignorant or lying?
