As I sit pondering the past year, I wonder how any of us news junkies kept our sanity. Word Salad Palin, Crazy Cruz (and Father), PR Pope and many others have kept those of us the blogosphere busy. There were times I was ready to throw in the towel because I just couldn't keep up with it all. In the end, it has been a fun ride and has strengthened my resolve to keep doing whatever it is I am doing. If last year is any indication of what is to come in 2014, I'm going to be very busy.
Last year at this time I set some very humble goals. Thanks to y'all we smashed the 20,000 page views for the year in October ending with 28,000+. For this year I am going big (OK my idea of big, hell I'm only one person) I want to hit 100,000 page views.
Altho I didn't quite reach 2000 postings, due to scheduling changes at work and health issues, I believe based on the numbers, y'all enjoyed some of my longer, in-depth pieces. Those will continue as I try and define better what this blog is about and attempt to stay focused instead of flitting about. (Breaking news is a bane to someone with bipolar, focus is not my strong suit.) It is a work in progress, and I am humbled that so many have taken the time to peruse what I ramble about. Three years ago when I started this blog, I never thought I would be still working at it, let alone considering to "make it bigger and better."
As for the "bigger and better" there are a few things in the works, only time will tell. I have been offered a chance at syndication as well guest posts on other sites; I am still considering both. I have also been asked if I would be interested in having guest posts to which I answered yes. Some of my personal pieces take up to 20 hrs or more to research and write so having a guest post every now and again would be kewl.
Some new "features" I am planning. Remnants of the Day, leftover news items I just couldn't get to for whatever reason. Happy News, a daily/weekly feel good story (I've been called a "negative Nellie" a few times). Random Video; I am a video nut due to not having TV. There is some crazy shit out there.
As for better, well, the site itself needs a new look but I am limited as to platform. I make no money doing this, not that I ever planned it that way. I'm one of those lazy slackers that works full-time at minimum wage and collects SNAP so I don't deserve the finer things in life. So the only better I can offer is improved writing!!
With that being said, I wish you all a Happy 2014 and remember it's an election year so get off your asses, get registered and make some changes!!
