"It’s a respectable answer. But saying you’re not religious doesn’t automatically make you anti-anything. It’s not like an accusation of being anti-Semitic would stick to a known defender of civil rights and Secular Jews aren’t exactly a rare breed. If anything, it’s just ignorance, as Frank admits. He didn’t know coming out as an atheist would make such a big difference. Now he does."Actually I have to disagree with Hemant on this point. Though the Theocratic/Dominionist movement may seem small and localized to a few wing-nuts (Palin, Bachman, Perry, West to name a few), ANY appearance of "anti-Jewishness" is taken as "going against" the Jewish state of Israel and the rebuilding of the Temple.
If one delves into the End-Times bullshit of the Dominionist you will discover that without the Temple being rebuilt, there is no "Second Coming." Their movement is premised on this point, and why they hold Genesis 1:26-28 so literal. They are to gain dominion over the 7 Mountains in order to prepare the way for Christ's return. Anything or anyone that is counter to their plan must be destroyed.
Some (myself included) have surmised that this stance is the impetus of the Reich's anti-science platform. as well as their uber pro-Israel agenda. Dominionists deny Climate Change and instigate unrest in the Middle East (think of their reaction to President Obama's handling of Syria) because they want the "world to end" so they can all go to heaven.
I believe Frank was aware of this, maybe not consciously, but he is not a stupid man. I for one am glad he stayed the course as his steady hand was needed. Had he revealed his non-belief we would (still) be debating the Frank Scandal.
