Georgia Ex-Cop Convicted Of Sexual Assault Gets To Carry A Gun Again - The New Civil Rights Movement

Officer Krauss was convicted of sexual assault against a person in custody. The appeals court affirmed that decision. Yet Think Progress reports that the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles has restored Dennis Krauss’ right to carry a gun.

It has always been my understanding that parole boards must first and foremost consider the safety of of the community. They are not limited by the rules of evidence that a trial court is. They can weight, not only Krauss' conviction, but the complaints in his work history. It boggles the mind that a request to carry a gun coming from someone with Krauss' history of preying on women would even be considered, much less granted. Yet somewhere in Georgia, Dennis Krauss is armed and dangerous.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Krauss is one of 358 violent felons who regained his gun rights over the last six years. That includes 32 convicted killers, and 44 who were convicted sex crimes. So much for that whole "good man with a gun" pipe dream.
