Deputy pulls Taser on 'sovereign citizen' who fails to comply at traffic stop | Newton Citizen

The driver ignored repeated commands by the deputy and refused to give him his drivers license.

“While I was asking for his drivers license, he began to state that he was a sovereign citizen and that he did not have to give me a drivers license,” Gilbert reported.

The man continued to resist the deputy, so he pulled out his Taser and pointed it at Hill, the incident report states, at which point he began to comply.

“During a search incident to arrest, Hill told the deputy that it was illegal and that (the deputy) was kidnapping him,” said NCSO Sgt. Cortney Morrison.

Hill allegedly continued to resist the deputy, refusing to sit inside the patrol car and then recited a section of the law, claiming he was being forced into the car under duress.
