UPDATE::Cops: Man fires AK-47 at police, firefighters in Dallas suburb; claims he meant no harm - CBS News

A very late update to a story I posted about here involving Douglas Lee LeGuin of "Doug-E-Stan," "'a little republic' he had just started."

For those not familiar with this fine example of a sovereign citizen, LeGuin is responsible for luring police and firefighters to him by setting a dumpster on fire and calling 911, then opened fire on them with an AK-47. Well it seems that since my last posting he offered an apology of sorts.
A Texas man accused of firing at police officers and firefighters says he never intended to hurt anyone, reports CBS DFW.

Douglas Leguin spoke to the station from the Dallas County Jail.

"I'm sorry for all the stuff I did," he said.

Authorities say the 60-year-old fired shots from his AK-47 at police officers and firefighters in a gated community in North Dallas on Monday, Aug. 11.

Two bullets reportedly hit a fire truck, with firefighters inside.

Leguin told CBS DFW he didn't try to hit anyone. He asked, "Did any bullets hit anybody that day? What is the answer?" He then answered his own question: "No!"

When asked if people who are sitting in a vehicle that's being fired upon believe or know that he's not aiming for them, Leguin paused, and replied, "All they had to do is go down the road, I wasn't aiming at them."

When asked what he would say to the police officers and firefighters who responded that day, Leguin said, "I'm sorry if they were under stress, but it was a good training operation for them. They do get shot at."

Leguin says his goal was to get his message out that America is broken and that people need to vote to make changes. When asked if there are other ways to get his message out, Leguin said, "No, there's not any other way to do this, any other way is a going to be a blip on the screen, people in America unfortunately have to have a shocking event."
