Graham Walker, President of Patrick Henry College, Announces Resignation | Homeschoolers Anonymous

This is a bit of "older" news from last week but I was waiting to see if any further developments would occur. So far, nada, at least on my radar screen.

I have been officially informed that as of 4:30 PM (EDT) today, Dr. Graham Walker has resigned his duties as President of Patrick Henry College. A search committee will be formed under the direction of the Board of Trustees to find a long term replacement.

Noa notes that “there has been tremendous friction between the alumni community and Dr. Walker during the independent review process,” a reference to the alumni board established to review PHC’s handling of campus sexual assault allegations. Concerning Walker’s resignation, Noa also states that he sees it “as a positive change” and “a great step toward a bigger and more successful future for Patrick Henry College.”

What I found interesting in reading various write-ups was this comment from Hemant Mehta's blog the Friendly Atheist:

The biblical failure of Dr. Graham Walker is two fold. First the obvious, Dr. Walker's failure to insist that John marry Claire and pay his father 30 silver pieces is whole unacceptable. We are not monsters here at Patrick Henry College, and that is why we are not advocating that she be stoned. But the honor of her family, her father and her bothers is at stake, and Dr. Walker failure was total and unforgivable. The shame that Dr. Walker allowed Claire to bring about on her family will last generation. Secondly and less obvious at first, Dr. Walker failed is biblical duty by allowing Ms. Claire into the college in the first place. What is a woman doing at a place of higher education in the first place. Surely, there aren't any degrees in Sandwich Making. The bible is clear, women need to be silent and submissive either to their husbands, or their fathers or their closest male relatives. A woman doesn't need a college degree to be silent and sit in the back of the church.

Hopefully, Dr. Walker replacement will have a more biblical approach to higher education, and the problems will be solved. Simply by instilling the importance of their Godly roles, and not allowing women to attend the college, the college will ensure that in the future no wholesome good boys will stumble because of being exposed to wanton sluts.

1 Corinthians 14:34-35 (NIV)::Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.

1 Timothy 2:11-15 (NIV)::A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
