A Chinese citizen was arrested in New York in connection with a series of big-dollar “blessing” scams in U.S. cities, including San Francisco, in which a professed doctor bilked people out of money and jewelry, authorities said Monday.
The suspect, a 61-year-old woman whose name was not immediately released, was taken into custody as she attempted to flee the United States for China on Oct. 27, authorities said.
She is being extradited to San Francisco, where police say she will likely face charges of grand theft, conspiracy, extortion and elder abuse.
Two elderly San Francisco residents, one in the Ingleside neighborhood and another in the Financial District, were among at least four people nationwide to fall prey to the scam, according to police. The other targets were in Los Angeles and New York.

Welcome to H&C,,, where I aggregate news of interest. Primary topics include abuse with "the church", LGBTQI+ issues, cults - including anti-vaxxers, and the Dominionist and Theocratic movements. Also of concern is the anti-science movement with interest in those that promote garbage like homeopathy, chiropractic and the like. I am an atheist and anti-theist who believes religious mythos must be die and a strong supporter of SOCAS.
