Oops,,,Reich news that got lost in the shuffle

Duggars accused of 'hate, fear-mongering'
Well, John Becker, of LGBT blog "The Bilerico Project," is married. He posted a photo of himself kissing his husband, Michael Knaapen. His caption: "Happily married for nearly nine years; working hard for #MarriageEquality for all loving couples. And we will win, because #LoveIsLove! #LibertyAndJusticeForAll."
On the Duggars and the Locus of Outrage
Here is what I would like to see: I would like to see TLC be honest in its portrayal of the Duggars. I would like them to be clear about the fact that their star family supports the ministry of a serial sexual predator. I would like them to be clear that the girls are not given any semblance of true choice when it comes to leaving home or going out with a boy. I would like to see them be honest about the child rearing practices the Duggars support, rather than allowing the Duggars to smile and hedge every time someone asks them about spanking.  I would like to see them be brutally and painfully honest about what Michelle and Jim Bob are teaching their daughters about their role in life, as women. I would also like to see more attention paid to the quality of education the children are receiving, and why none of them have attended college.

Marlo Thomas tells Today Show: ‘It’s not a miracle, it’s science’
Well said! Thomas is correct, of course. A miracle did not cure young Colin’s cancer. Scientific research by bright and dedicated scientists and medical professionals made Colin’s cure possible.

While it may be a small thing, it is important to push back against the often common assumption that medical advancement is somehow miraculous, and not the result of education and scientific investigation.

Marlo Thomas is the National Outreach Director for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Founded in 1962 by Marlo’s father, beloved entertainer Danny Thomas, St. Jude is a leading pediatric treatment and research facility focused on children’s catastrophic diseases.
Pastors Don’t Need To Enter Politics-They’re Already In It
My friend, theologian and scholar Peter Leithart, responded to my previous post, “Does a Pastor Running for Office Strike You as Bizzare?” with his own column in First Things, titled, Pastors Don’t Need To Enter Politics-They’re Already In It.

I commend Leithart’s entire piece to you for your profit in reflecting on these important issues. That said, I’d like to continue this public conversation through a response.

Leithart wrote: “However effective his campaign is, it’s a strategic error and perhaps reflects a theological mistake. The premise seems to be that pastors must become politicians to influence the nation’s direction, and that in turn suggests that the power of civil institutions is the greater than all others.”

I don’t see my position necessarily as “pastors must become politicians”, per se, but that spiritual men and women must become the transmission agents to bring wisdom and righteousness-His Word-to the public square. Virtue is a key component of freedom.
