Steve King is so offensive that I often find myself screaming at the television when he is speaking on the House floor, and Thursday was no different. According to journalist Matt Taibbi, while introducing presidential candidate Mike Huckabee at a rally in Iowa, King said the SCOTUS’ marriage equality ruling means we can all marry lawnmowers,,,
This isn’t the first time King has uttered this nonsense, earlier in July he said the same thing to a local Iowa newspaper, Dickinson County News:
“I had a strong, Christian lawyer tell me yesterday that, under this decision that he has read, what it brings about is: It only requires one human being in this relationship—that you could marry your lawnmower with this decision. I think he’s right.”When you have to use someone’s religious beliefs to segue into their opinions as a lawyer, there’s a pretty strong possibility that the lawyer in question has no idea what the hell he is talking about. King said “Christian lawyer” like that held the same weight as a “Harvard educated lawyer.” It’s laughable.
