Owner says club fire 'devastating' to LGBT community

New Orleans firefighters are trying to piece together what started an early morning fire that gutted a popular dance club.

No one was injured, but some streets around the Seventh Ward building are closed because of the danger of the building collapsing.

For nearly two hours New Orleans firefighters fought the massive flames in the four-alarm fire. The club, Club Fusions, is described by those who own and manage it as one of the only places in the area for the black LGBT community. They say it was a place for those who loved dancing, bounce, R&B music and festive drag shows.

"For this community itself, it's going to be very devastating. It's a loss to them because this is one of the biggest gay clubs in the city of New Orleans, and we have patrons who come from all over on Saturdays and Mondays to come out and enjoy theyself (sic), so now it's basically like there's nowhere for them to go," said the club owner Tyronne Williams.
