Jefferson County Commissioner Eric Bell, who has been charged with several sex-related felony counts in a case involving a 16-year-old boy, resigned from the county board Tuesday saying, “Addressing these allegations in court will be my primary focus.”
Bell, 37, who represents the Harpers Ferry District on the commission, said he is also stepping down to avoid distractions that would “frustrate their (the commissioners) purpose to serve the citizens of Jefferson County.”
Bell was charged with possession
of child pornography, sexual abuse by a person of trust and distribution
and display of obscene material to a minor, according to court records.
