Police in Schertz arrested a man accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old after telling her mother he would be giving her tennis lessons. The victim came forward just days after the abuse allegedly happened.

According to arrest papers, John Dean Blaylock reportedly told the victim and her mother that he was an assistant youth director at a church in Universal City. He arranged to give the child tennis lessons at a middle school in the area.

However, the victim says Blaylock took her to Crescent Bend Nature Park and sexually assaulted her on three separate occasions. The victim gave investigators a description of a mole near Blaylock's genitalia.

When Schertz investigators questioned Blaylock, he said he is not an assistant youth director, but a youth volunteer at his church. He admitted taking the girl to the park, kissing her, holding her hand and having intimate conversations, according to court documents. Officers also confirmed the information about the mole.

The United Methodist Church said Blaylock did pass a background check, so now they have approved a new comprehensive child use safety policy.

"That's going to involve comprehensive background checks, tracking. We have four hour training, plus online training for all of our volunteers and anyone who works with children," Rev. Will Rice said.
