On Sunday, David Wayne English Jr. was behind the pulpit at New Hope Baptist Church in Clinton.
On Monday, the 33-year-old was behind bars.
The
Laurens County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that English and his wife,
31-year-old Jennifer Lynn Bunting, were arrested in connection to a
series of crimes that included kidnapping a newborn.
Bunting
and English, both of 217 Milam Road in Clinton, are facing charges of
unlawful conduct toward a child. Bunting was also charged with
kidnapping, while English was charged with second-degree domestic
violence.
In a statement, Laurens County Sheriff Don Reynolds said English was a preacher and educator in a nearby county.
