Republicans schedule new 'Obamacare' repeal vote | MSNBC

"The very idea of repealing an effective health care law is increasingly bizarre, and as Senate GOP leaders realize, there’s zero chance of the repeal measure passing. The fact that Mitch McConnell sees this as a necessary part of the debate,,,"
Bizarre considering their own people have said it is working,
Obamacare is working. There's no better evidence of this than a brief filed on behalf of the government in King by the Hospital Corporation of America, better known as HCA, the largest health care provider in the country (once run by Obamacare foe Florida Gov. Rick Scott). HCA argues that the legal theory advanced by the plaintiffs is "absurd," but, more importantly, it presents detailed data drawn from its own operations that demonstrate that the health care law is helping patients and the company itself.

Senate Candidate Belittles His Opponent As Just A Young Woman Who Has No Life Experience | ThinkProgress

If this is an example of the "new" GOP training for winning over women voters, they have a serious problem. What it does show, the GOP/TP's 'war on women" is the real deal. The misogyny preached by the likes of Steven Anderson in action.
__
Senate candidate Matt Bevin doesn’t think much of his potential Democratic opponent, Alison Lundergan Grimes. Dismissing her professed support of a minimum wage hike, her choice to make Medicare a central part of her campaign, or her background as a lawyer for domestic abuse victims, Bevin is now claiming Grimes has nothing to run on besides the fact that she is a young woman.

Bevin, the Tea Party Senate candidate putting a scare in Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) ahead of the May 20 primary, campaigned this week in western and central Kentucky. During a stop in Madisonville, Bevin argued that Grimes just runs on four things: “She’s young, she’s new, is a woman, and she’s not Mitch McConnell.”

“She’s a nice enough person,” he said, but when it comes to issues, vision, or life experience, “she really has none of the above on any of those fronts.”

Bevin also argued that it was “insulting” that Grimes, who has served as Kentucky’s Secretary of State since 2012, would expect that women would vote for her simply based on her gender.

McConnell Challenger: Gay Marriage Could Lead To Parent-Child Marriage

He must be taking his cue from Sarah "Word Salad" Palin because in all honesty what he states make no sense, ""This is a gross misrepresentation of what Matt said," Bevin spokeswoman Rachel Semmel said in a statement. "He sees no comparison between gay marriage and incest."

WTH, "a person may want to define themselves as being married to one of their children" Obviously not listening to the same conversation as the rest of us.
__
Kentucky Republican Senate candidate Matt Bevin suggested that legalizing same-sex marriage could lead to legalizing marriage between a parent and child.

The comments by Bevin, who is running in the Republican primary against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), were made on The Janet Mefferd Show on Wednesday and highlighted by Right Wing Watch.

"If it’s all right to have same-sex marriages, why not define a marriage — because at the end of the day a lot of this ends up being taxes and who can visit who in the hospital and there’s other repressions and things that come with it — so a person may want to define themselves as being married to one of their children so that they can then in fact pass on certain things to that child financially and otherwise," Bevin said. "Where do you draw the line?"

Bevin's campaign said he was merely talking about the legal rights related to hospital visitations.

Sen. Mitch McConnell's Biggest Foe May Be Conspiracy Theorist Greg Fettig

Fettig is no marginal activist. U.S. News and World Report highlighted his role in Kentucky last week, noting that Fettig was the organizer behind the effort that helped challenger Richard Mourdock topple Indiana Republican Sen. Richard Lugar, which cost the GOP the general election race. Fettig said he sees that race as a victory nonetheless, and hopes to replicate it in Kentucky. If "we beat McConnell, we can prove we can do back-to-back Senate races and we can take anybody out if we work together," he told U.S. News.

When it comes to the 2014 race in Kentucky, Fettig thinks tea party challenger Matt Bevin is the horse to back. McConnell’s primary opponent has won the support of a coalition of tea party activists, and Fettig has been brought in to help run the group's outreach effort they are calling “Unbridled Liberty.” Fettig has also launched a super PAC bearing that name.

Unbridled Liberty plans to draw in and organize tea party activists from surrounding states -- Fettig lives in Indiana -- and already has commitments from activists to help knock on doors, staff phone banks, and stage events in support of Bevin and other like-minded candidates in down-ballot races. Organizers say Unbridled has been in discussion for a few months. An organizational meeting at a Lexington Holiday Inn two weeks ago was standing room only, said Garth Kuhnhein of northern Kentucky.

Mitch McConnell to Dems: Kill Obamacare if you want unemployment benefits | The Raw Story

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Tuesday moved to hold long-term unemployment insurance benefits hostage in an effort to delay President Barack Obama’s health care reform law.

As the Senate was set to vote on breaking a Republican filibuster and extend the benefits that had been cut off last month, McConnell came to the Senate floor on Tuesday with a proposal that Democrats delay the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate for one year.

“I’m sure that many on my side who would like to see these additional weeks of benefits extended, if like the Speaker of the House indicated he supported we could find a way to extend them without actually adding to the national debt,” the minority leader opined. “So to that end, I’d like to propose that we be allowed — my side be allowed to offer an amendment to pay for these benefits by lifting the burden of Obamacare’s individual mandate for one year and take care of our veterans who were harmed by the recently agreed to budget deal while we are at it in the same amendment.”

SignOn.org - Replace Mitch McConnell with Susan Collins as Minority Leader

While good qualifications, there are far more pressing reasons why Susan Collins would make a better minority leader in the Senate.
  • Currently holds the record for most continuous votes taken
  • Positions on LGBT rights are in the mainstream
  • Strong pro-business without being anti-worker
  • Good at balancing the needs of the environment with business demands
  • Pro-American focus on trade, including enacting punishments against countries which engage in currency manipulation
  • Against the Citizens United decision
