A deacon with the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Nampa was arrested Tuesday after a girl told investigators with the Nampa Police Department he had touched her inappropriately inside a church storage room.
Alexander Gonzalez Garcia was charged with lewd conduct with a minor under the age of 16. The preteen told investigators that Garcia had lured her into the storage room at a July 20 potluck by telling her he had something “cool” to show her, according to court documents.
Once inside the storage room, Garcia hugged and kissed the girl before touching her sexually, she said. The girl left the room and told her grandmother what had happened.
During an Aug. 26 interview with Nampa Police detectives, Garcia initially denied touching the girl sexually, according to court documents.
“Garcia said he did hug and kiss [the 12-year-old] but that was something he did all the time,” Nampa Police Detective Norman Corder wrote in a report.
Later in the interview, Garcia told detectives that Satan had been in the storage room with him and the girl, and had taken control of him and made him touch the child inappropriately.
