COPE is basically stating that the standards violate the religious freedoms of students and parents. Now most people know that science is taught in public, taxpayer funded schools. So why the righteous indignation? Y'all have the option of placing your child in a private, creationist run school if you don't like what is being taught. But if you do, please stop taking up the time of all the doctors, nurses, hospital and clinics. Please stop using your cell-phones and computers because that is science.
COPE seems to have a short memory as well. If one removes science, "a non-theistic religious worldview," there will be nothing to replace it. Creationism is not science, a point made very clear by Justice Jones in Kitzmiller v Dover (2005), "The overwhelming evidence at trial established that ID is a religious view, a mere re-labeling of creationism, and not a scientific theory."
Creationism is not scientifically valid, it’s a religious story that has zero evidence to support it. It has no business being taught in science classes. I have yet to see any creationist ideology advance our understanding of germ theory (original sin) or eradicate polio (punishment for sin) or increase food production (god did it or miracle).

Creationists are typically unable to appreciate that science is an iterative process, not an alternate religious dogma. From that very basic misunderstanding, they misconstrue Darwin as a "prophet," "Origin of Species" as a religious text, and "evolutionists" as a congregation who hold every word in it as true an unalterable, in much the same way they hold the Bible to be the unalterable "word of god". They thereby imagine that to demonstrate a flaw in Darwin's work is to invalidate evolution. Further, they are unable to discern that invalidation of evolution does nothing to validate their creation myth because they rigidly adhere to a Manichean worldview which admits of only two possible explanations for life and biodiversity. It's all a result of childhood indoctrination in their death cult, which stunted their intellectual growth in much the same way a lack of protein in the diet can stunt physical growth.
