UPDATE::Pastor Who Said Stoning Gays Is God's 'Mindset' Is Shocked People Think He Supports Stoning Gays - The New Civil Rights Movement

"We do not believe in stoning homosexuals," Bailey tells WTAE. He says the New Testament doesn't teach that, "and I didn't teach that in the video."

But as NCRM reported, on Bailey's church website they do discuss stoning gay people, and even say that the New Testament preaches against homosexuality:

"Did you know that the New Testament says that homosexuality is a sin against God and nature?," the text of a sermon given by Bailey reads. "In Romans 1:26-29 we are told that homosexuality is immoral and ungodly, and that people who engage in such will receive the eternal punishment that is due to them if they do not change their ways."

Bailey tells WTAE that of course, "we do not believe any Christian anywhere should stone Christians," certainly an odd choice of words. What about atheists, or people of another faith?

In the interview Bailey says he wants LGBT people "to go to heaven." But that too is an odd statement, for in the text of that same online sermon, he says, "the Bible clearly teaches that homosexuals will not go to Heaven."
Meanwhile, Bailey says he'll continue to preach the Bible as he always has.

"Our motivation is out of love."
