Gallatin man says he was fired because he is gay - KCTV5

A Gallatin man has filed a federal lawsuit against his employer claiming he was fired for being gay.

James Thompson, a former staffing coordinator for Maryland-based Abacus Corporation, said he was fired from his job in Lebanon solely due to his sexual orientation after he fired another employee in June.

“Never been written up, never been put on probation,” Thompson said.

Thompson said he confronted one of his employees after he made negative comments about same-sex marriage. When the employee cursed at him and left work, Thompson fired him.

Thompson then said his boss, Abacus Vice President Bill Lund, flew to Nashville to meet with him and find out what happened.

“After that meeting he actually asked me if I was gay,” Thompson said. “And the following working day he terminated me.”
