Franklin youth minister's wife faces statutory rape charge

A Williamson County grand jury has indicted a Franklin woman on charges of statutory rape and sexual exploitation of a minor after police say she had an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old boy she met through the church where her husband is a youth minister.

Ariel Stevenson, 25, surrendered to authorities on Friday. She was booked into the Williamson County Jail and released the same day on a $20,000 bond.

Franklin Police Department spokesman Lt. Charles Warner said on Tuesday that investigators first started looking into the case on May 18, after receiving a report of an alleged sexual relationship between the teen and Stevenson.
She was indicted on Sept. 14, Warner said, following a "comprehensive investigation."
