UPDATED::Was the Death of Two Young Girls Part of a Voodoo Ritual?

UPDATE::  I am still trying to make sense of this case and all the pieces involved.  The Daily Sentinel has put together a nice of work unraveling the peices.

"It reminds me of what I would call hardcore New Age groups that draw on various theosophical beliefs and symbols," said Raschke, who reviewed testimony from preliminary hearings provided by The Daily Sentinel.
"Theosophy" refers to a broad religious movement with a variety of mystical beliefs centering on meditation and psychic powers, according to Raschke.
Authorities wondered early on whether some form of voodoo was being practiced on the farm — a query that was prompted at least in part by alleged group leader Madani Ceus' Haitian background.

Investigators believe that a bizarre set of beliefs were at the heart of the itinerant group that called themselves a family but whose members are now accused of standing by while Makayla and Hannah died inside the car.

Little has been made public about Ceus' and Archer's backgrounds, where they came by their strange mix of beliefs or how they met each other. It appears, however, that they started amassing followers to their apocalyptic teachings in 2015 on the East Coast.

Colorado prosecutors are investigating whether a voodoo ritual was involved in the deaths of two young girls whose bodies were found last month in a car on a vacant property near Norwood, PEOPLE confirms.

“It is part of the investigation by the sheriff’s office,” 7th District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Sherry McKenzie tells PEOPLE. “It is a very concerning case whenever you find two young children deceased.”

Nashika Bramble, the 36-year-old Florida mother of the two girls, and 37-year-old Madani Ceus, of Haiti, were both charged late last week with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths. Both are also charged with two counts of child abuse resulting in death.
