 Deputies are investigating a homicide in Chesterfield County after a person was found dead of a gunshot wound inside a car Sunday morning.

The grim discovery was made around 8 a.m. by a passing motorist near the intersection of Sandy Plains Road and Highway 145, north of Chesterfield, near the state line.

Officials said the car was running and sitting in the road for nearly two hours.
