Bedford County prosecutor, accused of helping drug dealers for sex, resigns | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

So why is  Bedford County District Attorney William Higgins in my list of reliogiotwats gone bad?  Well he is the idiot on a moral crusade, who charged a 14 y/o PA lad, with desecration in 2014. (paywall) He also, he made a Facebook post decrying the ACLU and other groups who were asking him to be lenient.
“I guess I should take solace in the fact that the liberals are mad at me — again,” Higgins said Thursday on his Facebook page. “As for this case, this troubled young man offended the sensibilities and morals of OUR community. … His actions constitute a violation of the law, and he will be prosecuted accordingly. If that tends to upset the ‘anti-Christian, ban-school-prayer, war-on-Christmas, oppose-display-of-Ten-Commandments’ crowd, I make no apologies.”
Well it seems Mr Higgins has a thing, for sex, not with his wife.
Bedford County District Attorney William Higgins resigned Wednesday after he was charged with abusing his power by allegedly giving several women convicted of crimes leniency in exchange for sexual favors, the state Attorney General’s office said.

Mr. Higgins, 43, a Republican who has served Bedford County since 2004, faces charges recommended by a grand jury after a yearslong investigation. He turned himself in to authorities Wednesday morning and waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

The attorney general’s office charged Mr. Higgins with obstructing administration of law or other governmental function, official oppression, recklessly endangering another person, intimidation of witnesses or victims and hindering apprehension or prosecution.
