Former priest convicted of rape gets chance to argue for new trial after error - WJHL

This bout of appeals has been ongoing since his 2011conviction,,,
A former Kingsport priest convicted of sexually abusing an altar boy more than 30 years ago will get another chance to argue for a new trial.

Just last week, a Sullivan County judge set William Casey's new hearing for September. That follows a Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals decision earlier this year that found the post-conviction judge made an error in dismissing Casey's claims of ineffective counsel at trial and appeal without first conducting what's called an evidentiary hearing.
