Ex-Fort Worth pastor who raped teenage parishioner gets 10 years for violating probation | Courts | Dallas News

A former Fort Worth pastor who pleaded guilty a decade ago to sexually assaulting an underage parishioner has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after he violated the terms of his probation.

James "Jay" Virtue Robinson, 42, admitted in 2008 that he had a sexual relationship with a teenage girl whose family attended Southwood Baptist Church. After pleading guilty to sexual assault of a child, he received 10 years of deferred-adjudication probation and was required to register as a sex offender for life.

The conditions of his probation required that he avoid unsupervised contact with children, as well as church services and activities that would put him in contact with children.

Robinson had just months left of probation when a parishioner at his new church, Refuge Place, alerted prosecutors that Robinson was violating those conditions, officials said. Prosecutors filed a motion to revoke his probation in March.
