A Washington County man who once worked as
a volunteer chaplain for law enforcement offices in the area was served
with a warrant Tuesday charging him with statutory rape by an authority
figure, solicitation to commit statutory rape and other sex crimes.
Anthony Dale Padgett, 51, 645 Bayless Road, was already scheduled to
appear in Washington County General Sessions Court Tuesday on an
accusation that he violated an Order of Protection by sending an email
to the victim, now an adult, in November.
According to the new warrant, Padgett began having sexual contact
with a 15-year-old girl, and it continued until recently. She reported
it to authorities after becoming an adult. While he was in court on the
Order of Protection violation, Padgett was served with the warrant.
