Georgia Ex-Cop Convicted Of Sexual Assault Gets To Carry A Gun Again - The New Civil Rights Movement

Officer Krauss was convicted of sexual assault against a person in custody. The appeals court affirmed that decision. Yet Think Progress reports that the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles has restored Dennis Krauss’ right to carry a gun.

It has always been my understanding that parole boards must first and foremost consider the safety of of the community. They are not limited by the rules of evidence that a trial court is. They can weight, not only Krauss' conviction, but the complaints in his work history. It boggles the mind that a request to carry a gun coming from someone with Krauss' history of preying on women would even be considered, much less granted. Yet somewhere in Georgia, Dennis Krauss is armed and dangerous.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Krauss is one of 358 violent felons who regained his gun rights over the last six years. That includes 32 convicted killers, and 44 who were convicted sex crimes. So much for that whole "good man with a gun" pipe dream.

UPDATE::Oklahoma Police Officer Charged In Fatal Shooting Of Daughter's Boyfriend

An update of this story from August 5:

A Tulsa police officer was charged Monday with first-degree murder in the off-duty shooting death of his daughter's boyfriend earlier this month.

Shannon Kepler was charged in the Aug. 5 death of 19-year-old Jeremey Lake. Kepler, a 24-year-veteran of the force, also was charged with one count of shooting with intent to kill because prosecutors say he shot at his daughter during the alleged confrontation in which Lake was killed.

Kepler's wife, Gina Kepler, was not charged Monday because prosecutors said there wasn't evidence to support it. She'd been arrested along with her husband on a complaint of being an accessory after the fact of murder.

Autopsy report: Victor White III shot in the chest, not back | KATC.com | Acadiana-Lafayette, Louisiana

Victor White III, the New Iberia man who State Police said shot and killed himself in March while in custody in the backseat of a sheriff's car, was shot in the chest, according to a report from the Iberia Parish Coroner's Office.

The Iberia Parish Coroner's Office has released only the first page of the autopsy report, which contradicts statements initially made by State Police who said White shot himself in the back while handcuffed in the back of a sheriff's unit.

According to the autopsy, the bullet entered White's chest, then perforated his left lung and heart before exiting his armpit area and lacerating his upper arm.

The report rules White's death a suicide.

Ramarley Graham Was Killed By The NYPD Over Two Years Ago, And Nothing Has Happened

It’s been two and a half years since NYPD officers barged into the Bronx home of Ramarley Graham without a warrant, fatally shooting the unarmed teen in front of his grandmother and 6-year-old brother.

It’s been a little over two years since officers cheered fellow cop Richard Haste after he pleaded not guilty to manslaughter charges for killing Graham, as Graham’s parents sobbed.

It’s been a little over a year since a judge tossed out the indictment against Haste because of a technicality, and it's been exactly one year since another grand jury declined to indict Haste.

Friday also marks the one-year anniversary of when the Department of Justice announced it would investigate Graham’s death. The DOJ has remained silent on the investigation since then, and declined to comment on its status for this story.

And it marks another year that Graham’s mother, Constance Malcolm, says her family has gone without justice.

NJ cop says he doesn't have to follow Constitution because Obama doesn't (with UPDATE)

A borough police officer was caught on camera telling a resident that police don't have to follow the Constitution because President Barack Obama doesn't, either.

Special Police Officer Richard Recine now is the subject of an internal affairs investigation after the video was posted online and was seen by Police Director Robert Manney, who called the comments an "embarrassment."

In the video, taken Monday at the borough municipal building, resident Steve Wronko gets into a verbal confrontation with Recine, who was called to the building because Wronko was seen taking pictures inside.

After Wronko insists he has a constitutional right to record in a public place, Recine responds.

"Obama has decimated the friggin' constitution, so I don't give a damn," says Recine, a retired Franklin cop. "Because if he doesn't follow the Constitution we don't have to."

NJ cop says he doesn't have to follow Constitution because Obama doesn't

This story has been updated since I first read about it,,,

Richard Recine's 36-year career as a police officer came crashing down this week after he was caught on camera saying police do not have to follow the Constitution because President Barack Obama doesn't either.
On Thursday, Recine — who had retired from the Franklin police force in 2006 and was working part time here as a special police officer — submitted his resignation.

"I don't want to give a black eye to law enforcement," Recine, 59, said Thursday in an exclusive interview with MyCentralJersey.com. "People are saying some really nasty stuff about cops. I don't want all officers painted with the same brush."

Borough Administrator Herbert Massa said the resignation was accepted by Police Director Robert Manney, who had called Recine's comments an "embarrassment."

Police report: Tulsa officer fatally shoots daughter's boyfriend - Tulsa World: Crimewatch

Two things that trouble me concerning this incident.

Was daddy dearest a good guy with a gun or a bad guy with a gun?

Or, is there a hidden layer, "Lisa Kepler said her parents had kicked her out of their home recently because of poor "life decisions" she had made and dropped her off at the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless. Lisa Kepler declined to say what those life decisions were."

Sounds a lot like discarded "used" property when one considers this, "the couple had adopted Lisa Kepler and her two siblings several years ago."

Also wondering where does murder fit on this scale of "life decisions," good or bad?
A Tulsa police husband and wife were arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man on a street near downtown, and the couple's daughter said her father shot at her, too.

Shannon Kepler, 54, a 24-year veteran of the Tulsa Police Department, was booked into the Tulsa Jail on first-degree murder and shooting with intent to kill complaints. His wife, Gina, 48, also a Tulsa police officer, was jailed on an accessory to murder complaint.

The two weren't on duty at the time the shooting of 19-year-old Jeremy Lake occurred in the 200 block of North Maybelle Avenue about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, police said. Shannon Kepler works at TPD's police academy and worked Tuesday, public information officer Jillian Roberson said. Gina Kepler is a patrol officer at the department's Gilcrease division, and did not work Tuesday, Roberson said.

Both are held at the Tulsa jail, police chief Chuck Jordan said, but are confined in an area away from other inmates they may have come into contact with on the job.
