GOP candidate claims disabled children are God’s punishment for abortion

I originally was going to take the time to do a write up on the idiocy of Republican congressional candidate Bob Marshall, but Mike Stone over at Progressive Secular Humanist beat me to it and did a much better job.

Not only has Marshall said that disabled children are God’s punishment for women who have an abortion, but he has also stated that he believes that Justice Kennedy of the SCOTUS is a homosexual. Going back further, 1989 to be exact, he was asked about his opposition to all abortion — even in cases of rape, incest, and to save the life of the mother. Marshal responded “What if incest is voluntary?” Mr. Marshall said. “Sometimes it is.”
Christian conservative and Republican congressional candidate Bob Marshall claims that disabled children are God’s punishment for women who have an abortion.

Marshall, a Virginia GOP state delegate and congressional candidate, is standing by his obnoxious, irresponsible and baseless claim about the supposed “divine” link between abortion and disabled children, according to a report issued by Right Wing Watch.

Marshall says that “Nature takes its vengeance on subsequent children,” and that “Christians would suggest,” “It’s a special punishment.”

Mother Challenges The Perception Of Disability With Stunning Photos Of Her Daughter | I Acknowledge

Katie Driscoll from Palos Park, Illinois has been on a quest to change the face of beauty.

It all started with the birth of her daughter. Already a mother of five boys, Katie was overjoyed to have her first girl. When she found out that her daughter had Down syndrome, her happiness didn’t falter. Katie said:
“I didn’t want people to feel sorry for her or for us because I was proud of who she was.”
After Katie’s daughter Grace was born, the proud mother started to take photographs of her. The photo collection eventually turned into blogging Grace’s pictures to a bigger audience, which led to a full-fledged campaign called Changing the Face of Beauty, a campaign that urges companies to include photographs of those with disabilities in their ads.
