UPDATED::Samantha Bee slams anti-Girl Scout archbishop who wasn’t ‘sure’ child molestation was a crime

UPDATE::  Although cookie season is now past, I thought it good to highlight an example of Christian exceptionalism/  Mr Graham, boycott the Girl Scouts all you want, that is your right.  But please quit telling me what I have to do or believe.  Quit being a hypocritical ass, it is unbecoming.

Franklin Graham Boycotts Girl Scouts Cookies As Part Of Anti-LGBT Crusade
__
Samantha Bee put her money where her Thin Mints were on Monday as she offered support to the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri against St. Louis Archbishop Robert Carlson.

“You have underestimated our love of girl power — and our love of cookies,” Bee said to Carlson before revealing that the program bought a “sh*t-ton” of Girl Scout cookies to give to her audience. She also directed viewers to her website, which is encouraging them to “ruin an awful archbishop’s day” by either buying cookies or donating to the Girl Scouts directly.

Carlson drew Bee’s ire after he contacted local parishes and urged them to cut ties with the Scouts, saying they were “becoming increasingly incompatible with our Catholic values.”

Among the behaviors troubling Carlson, Bee noted, was the fact that the Scouts were working with Amnesty International.

David Barton: Thomas Jefferson Would Like Ted Cruz for President
It now seems clear why Barton and WND brought out The Jefferson Lies now. This rather transparent attempt to claim Jefferson as a Cruz supporter comes just as Iowans caucus next week.
No, Franklin Graham, LGBTQ Children Are Not The Enemy

Genetically Engineered crops and seed saving myths.
Firstly, by the 1930s, commercial hybrid crop varieties began to proliferate. When one replants second generation seeds from hybrids, one gets a mixture of inferior varieties, so it was in farmers’ best interest to buy new seeds each year. This was especially true for corn farmers, who had by and large been relying almost exclusively on hybrids for roughly a half a century before GE technology came along.

Secondly, buying seeds each year grants farmers certain quality assurances which would let them be confident that either their seeds would be of high quality, or that they’d at least have some recourse of action in the event that the seeds didn’t perform as advertised.

Thirdly, the plant patent act of 1930 meant that plant breeders could procure intellectual property rights on certain varieties of seeds. If everyone just bought the seed once and then made as many copies as they ever wanted, the patents would become meaningless, and there’d be less incentive for innovation in plant breeding. In principle, this is not all that different from software licensing agreements and other forms of intellectual and/or artistic copyrights in which unchallenged piracy would ostensibly permit unlimited copies to be made for free, in which case the concept of intellectual property rights would be rendered meaningless.

UPDATE: Ali Forney Center s Donation Campaign To Buy Harlem Hate Church Tops $75K In First 48 Hours - Joe.My.God.
AMAZING! On Thursday we learned that Harlem’s infamous “Jesus Would Stone Homos” hate church will be placed to public auction on February 24th due to over $1M in unpaid debts. Late Friday afternoon the Ali Forney Center, which serves homeless LGBT youths, announced a campaign to buy the building and the donation drive has already rocketed above $75,000. AFC founder Carl Siciliano tells us that a huge chunk of the donations have come from the JMG community. Let’s keep that thermometer rising!

Oops: Franklin Graham moves bank accounts from gay-friendly bank to one that sponsors gay pride events

I'm sorry but this to me is just priceless. Obviously Graham has forgotten who helped found FRC, George 'Rentboy" Renkers.  But as this comment points out, we have this to consider:
Graham said he thinks banks should stick to banking. Well, that goes for the other shoe, too - Chik-fil-A should stick with unhealthy and unchristian junk food and Hobby Lobby should stick with arts and crafts.
Evangelist Franklin Graham has found a new bank to handle his organization’s financial needs after pulling his money out and calling for a boycott of Wells Fargo Bank because he felt they were promoting a “godless lifestyle” by using gay couples in their ads.

Unfortunately for Graham, his new bank is a major sponsor of the Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade as well as sponsoring a “Legacy Couples” program that celebrates committed relationships between same-sex couples.

As Right Wing Watch reports, Graham went on a radio show sponsored  by the Family Research Council and told host Craig James that he was moving his accounts to North Carolina-based BB&T.

Saying he only wants a bank that tells him what interest rates they will pay and what his service charges will be, Graham said he thinks banks should stick to banking.

BB&T is listed as a sponsor of the Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade,  as well as a major sponsor of the Legacy Couples program in South Florida, honoring committed gay couples.

Franklin Graham Prays Ruth Bader Ginsburg Finds (His View Of) God Before Supreme Court Ruling

“Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”

There are few different ways that one can respond to the derp coming from one Franklin Graham.  The simplest and most direct as per the First Amendment, religion is not permitted to mingle with the politics of this country and vice versa.  In other words, we are not a theocracy.  Supreme Court Justices must have an open mind. They are called upon to make a decision based upon the arguments presented and determining if voting for or against that issue is to the betterment of the nation.

With that in mind, one can also look at the question before the Court, civil marriage, not religious; marriage is not and never has been "owned" by the Church.  No public official should be enforcing Graham's views against any American citizens, ever.  Graham needs to mind his own business, whether marriage equality is legal nationwide or not, has no affect on him or his followers in any way.

And since we all know that - nothing fails like prayer.  What if God's answer is a big ole NO? Will Graham accept that? Or is the only answer acceptable from God the one Graham decided it should be?
Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the first Jewish woman to take a seat on the Supreme Court, is expected to vote in favor of marriage equality. According to Franklin Graham, this demonstrates that she doesn’t understand “the truth of scripture” and his followers must pray for her eyes to be opened.

That’s right — in the name of (Franklin Graham’s view of) religious freedom, he’d like for people to pray that Jewish Justice Ginsburg is converted to his particular set of Christian beliefs, on at least this particular topic.

[,,,]
Is having others, particularly Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg, abandon their own beliefs and convictions necessary to Franklin Graham’s religious freedom? Dissenting commenters pointed out that Bader Ginsburg already holds religious beliefs, and presumably a faith in God, as a Jewish woman.
“One point many fail to realize: Ginsburg is Jewish, not a Christian and therefore, her perspective will reflect her personal convictions.

“This complete dismissal of her faith leads me to believe he thinks Jews should have no rights either.”

Franklin Graham Claims The News Media Is Persecuting Christians | Right Wing Watch

We’re not exactly sure how the media is persecuting evangelicals like Graham, seeing that on Sunday he was a guest on ABC’s This Week, but Religious Right activists have been keen to conflate criticism and even tough questions with persecution.
