WITCH doctors, traditional healers and fake churches must stop their anti-church and witchcraft practices in Erongo or risk a war with the police.

Ileni Shapumba of the Erongo police's community affairs unit said this after the report of a man who killed his cousin and drank his blood in the North over the weekend on the advice of a church and traditional healer became public.

"These doctors and churches; especially these fake pentecostal churches, must stop their immoral activities for the sake of making money,” he warned.

He said pentecostal churches and traditional healers seem to work together and that more and more of these churches are mushrooming.

“Every second house has been turned into a church, bad mouthing one another, so they can get more customers and make more money. In the past complaints were mostly about noise late at night but now it's becoming a threat to people's well-being and safety,” he warned, urging the public and victims to report any incidents to the police.

To save the species? I don't know, sounds more like they are saying everything has a price. Even more disconcerting is the fact that last year the African Western Black Rhino was officially declared extinct meaning that no individuals can be found surviving outside cultivation, captivity, or naturalized populations.

The "debate" surrounding this auction is whether this "culling" is good or bad. Some say yes, others say no;all black rhinos should be protected, given their endangered status. I think it is just plain ole stupid,,,

Steve Wagner, a spokesman for the Dallas Safari Club, which sponsored the closed-door event, confirmed the sale of the permit for a hunt in the African nation of Namibia. He declined to name the buyer.

Ben Carter, executive director of the Safari Club, has defended the auction. He said all money raised will go toward protecting the species. He also said the rhino that the winner will be allowed to hunt is old, male and nonbreeding - and that the animal was likely to be targeted for removal anyway because it was becoming aggressive and threatening other wildlife.

But the auction drew howls from critics, including wildlife and animal rights groups, and the FBI earlier this week said it was investigating death threats against members of the club.

Officials from the Humane Society and the International Fund for Animal Welfare have said that while culling can be appropriate in abundant animal populations, all black rhinos should be protected, given their endangered status.
