A man accused of slapping WSAV’s Alex Bozarjian on the rear during a live report has been arrested.

Thomas Callaway is charged with sexual battery in connection to the incident at Saturday’s bridge run in Savannah.

He turned himself in Friday afternoon at the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and has since been released on $1,300 bond.

A former Cochise County jail chaplain accused of sexually assaulting female inmates faces 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges.


Douglas Packer, 64, pleaded guilty Thursday in Superior Court to kidnapping with intent to commit sexual abuse, sexual abuse and sexual misconduct.


Defense attorney Jake Amaru said Packer wanted to spare his victims further anguish, and prosecutor Lori Zucco said the victims were consulted about the plea "and each supported it."

The Rev. Cornelius Tilton, a longtime pastor, businessman and president of the Christian Bible College of Louisiana has been charged with sexually assaulting a student on an international flight bound for Newark, New Jersey, the Department of Justice announced Monday.

According to the complaint against Tilton, on or about Nov. 30, the victim identified as a 19-year-old male student at a theological seminary, was traveling with a group of students from a religious trip to Israel back to New Jersey.

Tilton, 65, who is a married great-grandfather, had accompanied the group as an unofficial guide and speaker. During the flight, Tilton sat in a window seat next to the victim. The complaint noted that at some time during the flight, the pastor placed his hand on the student’s bare calf. He then continued touching the victim’s thigh and eventually began rubbing the student’s genitals over his shorts.

Woman severs Greenville man's penis to escape reported sexual assault

A registered sex offender is out on bond after an alleged sexual assault in August in which a woman escaped from him by severing his penis.

Dennis Glenn Slaton, 61, is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping in relation to that assault. He is out on $75,000 bond with a condition of home incarceration. He was arrested again this month for reportedly violating the conditions of his home arrest and has since bonded out again. 

Judge James Hudson set the terms of Slaton's bond after the Aug. 8 incident, according to the 13th Circuit Solicitor's Office.

UPDATE::   Traverse City pastor heading to trial on sexual assault charges

A pastor of a church in northern Michigan who is facing charges after five men accused him of sexual assault is heading to trial on charges tied to two of the accusers.

The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports four charges were dropped before the case was sent this week to trial court.

Grand Traverse County Prosecutor Noelle Moeggenberg says Christopher Cox is scheduled to appear June 28 on charges including first-degree criminal sexual conduct, methamphetamine possession and child pornography.

A Traverse City pastor was arrested after a Michigan State Police investigation into sex and drug crimes.

Christopher Cox, 41, is the pastor at Long Lake Church in Traverse City, according to the church's website.

According to investigators, on March 14, a 19-year-old man reported that Cox had drugged him before sexually assaulting him at his business office in Garfield Township.

The alleged victim said Cox had contacted him on Facebook and lured him to his office with a promise of crystal meth.

According to police, there is no current evidence that his work at the church was involved in these incidents, but investigators believe his influence as a pastor may have played a role.

The pastor of a Bluefield church has been charged with sex crimes involving a 25-year-old mentally incapacitated man, Bluefield Police Department officials said Monday.

Anderson H. Martin II, of Bluefield, was indicted on third-degree sexual assault and second-degree sexual abuse last week by a Mercer County Grand Jury.

Martin is the pastor of the Greater Tabernacle of Faith Apostolic Church located at the corner of Preston and Bland streets, Detective-Sgt. K.L. Adams, with the Bluefield Police Department, said.

One woman said her yoga teacher, Manouso Manos, stuck his toe into her vagina through her tights while she was in a seated pose. Another woman said he stroked her genitals while she was performing a standing yoga pose. And yet another said he put his finger in her anus through her clothing while she was in a standing pose, bent over with her head toward the ground.

An investigation into Manos, a prominent international yoga teacher based in San Francisco, has found that several allegations of “inappropriate sexual touching” during classroom instruction have “proven to be true,” according to a report released April 5 by the national body overseeing the Iyengar tradition in the United States.

Manos, a disciple of and right-hand man to the founder of Iyengar, B.K.S. Iyengar, used adjustments of yoga poses as a cover to sexually abuse students and to groom them for such acts, wrote Bernadette Sargeant, an independent investigator and Washington, D.C., lawyer hired by the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States (IYNAUS) to conduct the probe.

Manos, through a spokesman, said last fall that he denied all allegations — past and present. “Manos emphatically denies any wrongdoing,” the spokesman said in a statement on Friday.

A May trial has been scheduled for a Roman Catholic priest accused of sexually assaulting a woman in central Nebraska.

Valley County District Court records say the Rev. John Kakkuzhiyil entered a written plea of not guilty Monday to a charge of forcible sexual assault. His trial is set to begin May 6.

The woman who accused him has obtained a protection order against the cleric. She says he assaulted her in November when she went to his Ord home on business. She says she blacked out after having a couple of drinks with him.

A Plano healer arrested this month on a sexual assault charge stands accused by several women of molesting them under the guise of medical treatment — allegations that span a decade.

Michael Solberg, 58, was arrested last week and charged with sexually assaulting a patient 10 years ago. Six women whom that patient has met since reporting the incident hope her story will persuade officials to listen to their own.

Years later, the first accuser went back to police, and now — a decade after her last appointment with Solberg — she's one of seven women formally accusing him of sexual assault.

Several of them had reported the co-owner of Solberg Center for Structural Integration before, but he was never convicted. Solberg, co-owner of the center that operates in Plano and Dallas, declined to comment for this report.

A pastor in Brooklyn Center has been convicted of sexual assault charges stemming from an incident in September of last year.

According to the original complaint, the victim said she was assaulted by Meally Feeman, 56, at Grace Mountaineer Tabernacle Church after he suggested she needed a one-on-one “deliverance” session to exorcise a demon from her body.

Freeman was convicted Monday of two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. He remains in custody and prosecutors will seek a sentence of 58 months in prison.

A Brooklyn Center pastor is accused of sexually assaulting a woman during a spiritual guidance session he called “deliverance”, according to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office.

Meally Morris Freeman, 55, of Brooklyn Center faces two felony counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection to the September 2017 incident.

According to the complaint, a 28-year-old woman reported she was sexually assaulted by her pastor, Freeman, at the Grace Mountaineer Tabernacle Church in Brooklyn Center. The victim told police that she knew Freeman for several years and considered him her spiritual father.

Christian counselor pleads guilty to sexual assault in Dalton, Georgia | Times Free Press

Daniel Staats, the Dalton, Ga., Christian counselor accused of sexually assaulting a client, pleaded guilty Tuesday.

Staats, who ran Helping the Hurting and filled in as a guest pastor in a local church, was accused of fondling a client's breast, exposing himself and receiving oral sex during a July 2017 visit, according to a Dalton police report. He was arrested in December, and a grand jury indicted him on four counts of sexual assault by a psychotherapist in February.

Conasauga Judicial Circuit District Attorney Bert Poston said Staats pleaded guilty to one of those counts, receiving a 20-year sentence. He will serve two of those years behind bars and be on probation for the rest. He also must register as a sex offender, and Poston said he can no longer work as a counselor.

After Staats' arrest in December, other women came forward to the police department and accused him of acting inappropriately. But, police spokesman Bruce Frazier said earlier this year, the offenses most of the women described were not crimes.

An Alton pastor was arrested Wednesday after a woman reported that he sexually assaulted her while she was unconscious.

Melquisedec Chan, 52, was arraigned Thursday on aggravated sexual assault and practicing medicine without a license charges.

Chan and his wife, who live in Mission, founded Vida Abundante church in Alton nearly two decades ago, according to its website, which describes him as a surgeon in Mexico. He is not licensed, however, by the Texas Medical Board, and thus unable to legally practice medicine in the state.

His arrest came after a woman reported to police that Chan, a family doctor, allegedly sedated and then sexually assaulted her, according to a criminal complaint.

Lexington SC pastor used church job to sexually assault | The State

A former associate pastor at a Lexington church was arrested Thursday and charged with criminal sexual conduct, according to a statement from Lexington police.

Eduardo Elias Cornejo, 34 and a former pastor at Columbia First Seventh-Day Adventist Church, turned himself into police after a victim came forward earlier this year to report a sexual assault, according to the statement.

The female, who spoke with police Feb. 22, said Cornejo assaulted her in January 2017. She said Cornejo met with her and "used persuasion and physical force" to have sex with her, according to the statement.

Police believe Cornejo used his position as a pastor to coerce other women into having sex with him. Officials ask that anyone with information about this contact police.

It is unclear how many tickets for the event had been sold previously but the #7000 Days Conference announced the cancellation last Wednesday and promised to refund payments made by early registrants in a few business days.

The concept behind the annual conference spearheaded by Savage is that parents only have 7,000 days with their children "from crib to college."

Ex-Las Cruces priest surrenders to Hobbs police

A former Las Cruces priest accused of sexually assaulting a Hobbs man surrendered to authorities earlier this week, more than three months after a warrant for his arrest had been issued, court records show.

Father Ricardo Bauza, 51, voluntarily surrendered to Hobbs police on Monday morning, according to his attorney, Jason Bowles of Albuquerque. A booking sheet indicates that Bauza was placed under arrest at 6:05 a.m.

Bauza had been wanted by authorities in Hobbs since last October, when police obtained an arrest warrant for the former Las Cruces priest, who served as the pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church for almost a decade.

A San Diego priest has admitted to sexual misconduct while celebrating a private Mass eight years ago in a woman’s Mendota Heights home.

He is an ordained Catholic priest currently on a leave of absence from the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego, according to the Dakota County attorney’s office.

Jacob Andrew Bertrand, 35, pleaded guilty Monday to one charge of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. The second count was dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

Boys claim sexual abuse was covered up at ranch

A Missouri ranch for troubled boys covered up rapes and sexual assaults committed against young boys in 2009 and 2010, according to lawsuits filed by three former residents.

Some boys fondled, molested and raped younger boys, the lawsuits say, while the ranch ignored the abuse and sometimes punished boys for reporting it.

According to the lawsuits, Lives Under Construction viewed sexual abuse as consensual acts between residents and fired an employee in retaliation for making a hotline call about it.

There was a "culture of pervasive sexual assault," the lawsuits say.

Andy Savage, accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Texas 20 years ago, has resigned from his ministerial post at Highpoint Church. 

The Memphis megachurch announced the resignation Tuesday, saying that while an investigation found no other instances of abuse, "the leadership team at Highpoint Church agrees that Andy's resignation is appropriate."

The statement is the first time the church leadership has termed the encounter involving Savage as "abuse."

Members of a Memphis megachurch stood and applauded their pastor on Sunday when he admitted to and apologized for engaging in a “sexual incident” with a high school student 20 years ago.

Jules Woodson, who accused Highpoint Church Pastor Andy Savage of sexually assaulting her when she was 17, told The New York Times she watched the moment, streamed live on the church’s YouTube page, in disbelief.
“It’s disgusting,” she said.

Though Savage, an author and podcast host, remains on the Highpoint staff, repercussions have begun for what Woodson says happened two decades ago.

Tariq Ramadan Is on Leave From Oxford After Rape Allegations - The New York Times

Tariq Ramadan, a renowned scholar of Islam, has taken a leave of absence from his teaching post at Oxford University after two women filed complaints that he sexually assaulted them in France.

The university said the decision was mutual. “Professor Ramadan’s teaching, supervising and examining duties will be reassigned,” it said in a statement, “and he will not be present at the University or College.”

The statement added: “The University has consistently acknowledged the gravity of the allegations against Professor Ramadan, while emphasizing the importance of fairness and the principles of justice and due process,” the statement added.

Mr. Ramadan, 55, a Swiss-born theologian and philosopher, is a professor of contemporary Islamic studies at the university and a senior research fellow at St. Antony’s, an Oxford college that focuses on international affairs.

More Than 180 Women Have Reported Sexual Assaults At Massage Envy

Generally not a story I would track, but instinct tells me this is going to be much bigger than this one story.  Especially when one gets this response, "'I was following the policy of Massage Envy,' the owner said, 'and therefore I thought it was appropriate.'"  This in response to questioning as to why management would dismiss the claims of women assaulted.

I will be honest, I am flummoxed by all the recent accusations.  I do not have a cogent response, even as a survivor myself.  My gut says one thing, my heart another, and my brain says something totally opposite.

“I said to her, ‘Nicole, he stuck his fingers in my vagina less than an hour ago,’” she later recounted in court. She begged the manager to get Deiter’s client out of the massage room immediately. “She said she could not do that, and she invited me in to talk about my services,” Ingram added.

Frustrated, Ingram called the police, who interviewed Deiter that afternoon. He quickly admitted to assaulting not just Ingram but other Massage Envy clients as well. “I need help,” he confessed. The next year, Deiter pleaded guilty to sexually molesting a total of nine women while working at Massage Envy from fall 2014 to spring 2015.

Two of those women had tried to warn the spa about Deiter before Ingram had, court records show. Three months before Ingram’s assault, one woman told the spa that Deiter had touched her genitals. One month before Ingram's assault, another woman reported he had touched her breasts. The spa decided their allegations weren’t credible, in part because, like Ingram, both women had made them over the phone and wouldn’t return to the spa to discuss the events in person. Lawyers would later ask the spa owner and another clinic manager why they would judge an alleged sexual assault victim on her willingness to return to the scene of the crime.

Even if employees aren’t sure whether a client has been the victim of a crime, they should encourage the person to file formal charges with law enforcement or state regulatory boards, massage experts said. Victims’ rights advocates said facilities should prominently display their reporting policies and hire specially trained, independent consultants if criminal allegations arise.
