Specifically in the frieze mentioned, Moses is holding two tablets (let's assume the Ten Commandments),but only commandments six through ten are visible usually considered the more secular of commands.  That would fit with Weinman's design for said frieze,

Barton declared that "terrorism was really on the ropes" before President Obama removed the last U.S. troops from Iraq, but now "terrorism has really rebuilt itself ... [because] this has been an administration that has not done a good job of trying to take terrorists down or take terrorism out."

Barton and co-host Green repeatedly expressed their desire to have someone like Gohmert serving as president instead of President Obama because, they said, Gohmert understands the difference between good and evil, which Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry, and the rest of the administration can never grasp because they support abortion rights and gay marriage.

If I remember my philosophy correctly, I believe this is a "variant" the Kalam cosmological argument. So, for those of you that may follow the atheism/theism debates:

1] Everything that has a beginning of its existence has a cause of its existence;
2] The universe has a beginning of its existence;

3] The universe has a cause of its existence.

What I find a we bit ironic, the Kalam argument has origins in medieval Muslim thought most directly to Islamic theologians of the Sunni tradition. But yet Gohmert sees the "Muslim Brotherhood" in everything the President does, going so far as to say:

“Radical Islam is at war with us,” Gohmert said in an interview on Thursday with World Net Daily radio. “Thank God for the moderates that don’t approve of what’s being done. But this administration has so many Muslim Brotherhood members that have influence that they just are making wrong decisions for America.”

Would I be wrong in calling him a hypocrite?

So the dude in Nacogdoches most likely got his fine argument for God's existence, "you couldn't get everything unless there was something that was the creator of everything," from my favorite" Christian apologist and philosopher, William Lane Craig. And like any true religionist, Gohmert took Craig's apology for the faith at face value, "the equation that nobody plus nothing equals everything." Which BTW explains why I have been seeing this phrase in recent memes.

You see there are issues or criticisms, some from those of the philosophical bent (J. L. Mackie and Quentin Smith come to mind); most falling into the realm of physics, (Lawrence Krauss and Victor Stenger are two I'm familiar with).

Now I'm not going to try and refute Gohmert's use of the Kalam as I would probably make an ass of myself. But if your interested, listed below are some of the resources I have used in trying to understand Kalam in the past.

Wondering exactly how this works? "So if you were completely areligious, completely atheistic, but you wanted to have a free country,,,it might be a good thing to encourage those who believe in God to keep doing so." I would love to stop paying attention to pols like Gohmert, but unfortunately these crazy fuckers keep getting elected to public office, then proceed to write policy. ignoring them is just not an option. I'm just not sure who to be more afraid of, people like Gohmert, or the folks who elect them.

If atheists want their country to be free and safe, they should encourage people to worship God, Texas Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert argued Thursday during a House floor speech.

Gohmert, who has a penchant for tweaking people who do not believe in God, was delivering a speech about the lack of attention given to Christians who are persecuted around the world.

Although he also declared that Christianity is the most persecuted religion in the world, as an aside he argued that only nations that turned away from the Judeo-Christian god have ceased to exist.

"No country has ever fallen while it was truly honoring the god of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob," Gohmert said.

"So if you were completely areligious, completely atheistic, but you wanted to have a free country, and you wanted to have it safe and protected, then it would sound like -- from historical purposes -- that it might be a good thing to encourage those who believe in God to keep doing so," Gohmert said. "Because when a nation's leaders honor that God, that nation is protected. It's only when it turns away that it falls."
