Ben Carson: Congress Should Oust Judges Who Rule For Marriage Equality | Right Wing Watch

Speaking last night with Iowa talk radio host Steve Deace, Carson said that Congress should “reprimand or remove” federal judges who issue “unconstitutional” rulings striking down state bans on same-sex marriage.

What the president and what the Supreme Court need to reiterate is that the states have a mechanism whereby they can determine the will of the people, it’s called ballot referendum. It has been done multiple times already, 32 states have indicated that marriage is between a man and a woman, and a few judges have come and overturned that. That, as far as I’m concerned, is unconstitutional, and Congress actually has oversight of all what they call the inferior courts, everything below the Supreme Court, and that’s where those overturns have come. And when judges do not carry out their duties in an appropriate way, our Congress actually has the right to reprimand or remove them.

After Deace alleged that a Supreme Court victory for marriage equality advocates would undermine freedom and lead to the “persecution of the church” and “open season on Christians,” Carson said Congress should intercede if the Supreme Court deems same-sex marriage bans unconstitutional.

“We certainly cannot give up if, in fact, that turns out to be the case because we do still have the Congressional mechanism,” Carson said. “And the key here in our country, values and principles cannot be drummed out of us. They’re going to try and the only way we maintain a country with values and principles is we have to be brave enough to stand up for what we believe.”

Two issues with what Carson states. First, he is ignoring the Constitutional promise of equality, saying it should be voted on. Second, Congress cannot simply remove a judge for ruling in a way the majority disagrees with. Governing by intimidation never works

And whilst pondering that, Carson, has never held an office of public trust; but at the same time he is motivated by his religion, not by a deep understanding of American political history. I am wondering what exactly does this man think he would be doing if the SCOTUS had decided to let each and every state decide if he was more than three fifths of a person? Does Jim Crow ring a bell?

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Civil rights are not up for a vote. They are dependent on the Constitution, which guarantees them.

Human Rights Campaign’s Homosexual Founder Charged With Sexual Abuse of Oregon Boy | Christian News Network

I have struggled with this story for days as there is not a whole hell of a lot that I can add. But like the pedophile priests (and I am using the term "pedophile" incorrectly, as the usual age range is 11-years or younger) and other "church" authorities I highlight, Bean needs to be added to that group. He is a man of "authority" mixed up in an alleged crime against a youth; to me that is just wrong. Gay or straight, it does not matter, abuse of "authority" does if that is what this case boils down to. But, as Bean himself has stated, "[m]y lawyers have insisted that the facts come out in the courtroom and not in the press,,,." So we will have to wait.

That being said, two very divergent viewpoints have emerged from this morass. The attached article itself is quite neutral considering the source. For a few days it was the only "source.

First up is Steve Deace,,,

By the Left’s own stated reasoning (brainwashing), they are now conducting a vicious, inhuman, and despicable war on underage boys.

Real estate tycoon Terrance Patrick Bean is an Obama fundraising bundler and the co-founder of the so-called Human Rights Campaign — one of the richest and most powerful pro-homosexual organizations in the country. And he was just indicted by an Oregon grand jury for a homosexual assault on an underage boy.

Remember, the Left said that former Congressman Todd Akin’s gaffe about “legitimate rape” during the 2012 election (which Mr. Akin repeatedly apologized for) meant all conservatives were guilty of a “war on women.” Well, Democrat Sugar Daddy Bean could very well be guilty of “actual rape,” which means according to the Left’s own logic the Left is guilty of waging a war on underage boys.

Too bad Deace didn't do a bit more research. You see other Republicans have espoused the same view as Akin. A few examples ,,,

• 1980 this was said by James Leon Holmes, "concern for rape victims is a red herring because conceptions from rape occur with approximately the same frequency as snowfall in Miami." He was later nominated to a federal judgeship
• 1988 state Rep. Stephen Freind, "The odds that a woman who is raped will get pregnant are 'one in millions and millions and millions,,,.' The reason, Freind said, is that the traumatic experience of rape causes a woman to 'secrete a certain secretion' that tends to kill sperm."
• 1995 Henry Alridge stated, "the juices don't flow, the body functions don't work"
• 2012 Phil Gingrey in defense of Todd Akin, "But then he went on and said that in a situation of rape, of a legitimate rape, a woman’s body has a way of shutting down so the pregnancy would not occur. He’s partly right on that.”

Especially when you consider Bean isn’t a lone case-study here. Back in 2012, 68-year-old Larry Brinkin, one of the pioneers of homosexual political/judicial activism, was charged with alleged possession of child pornography, when California authorities traced back to his computer photos of sex acts involving children as young as toddlers being sodomized by adult men. Brinkin plead guilty to the charges earlier this year.

It’s a shame that monsters like Bean (allegedly) and Brinkin have to impugn the integrity of the movement they represent, but what’s fair is fair.

See, to the Left if elements of the Catholic Church heinously tolerated pedophiles, that means all the multi-millennia moral traditions of the church are now called into question. Never mind the fact the Catholic Church also gave us Mother Teresa. And if Ted Haggard turns out to be a flaming hypocrite, that means all evangelicals are as well. Never mind the fact evangelicals rank near the top nationally in charitable giving.

Please tell me he did not go there! Two cases versus thousands. He is comparing 2 cases -  one alleged - the other dealing with child porn (and I am not dismissing the seriousness Brinkin's crime) to the atrocities of the Catholic Church and Mother Teresa.

Mother Teresa has collected many, many millions (some say: billions) of Dollars in the name of India's paupers (and many, many more in the name of paupers in the other "gutters" of the world). Where did all this money go? It is surely not used to improve the lot of those, for whom it was meant. The nuns would hand out some bowls of soup to them and offer shelter and care to some of the sick and suffering. The richest order in the world is not very generous, as it wants to teach them the charm of poverty. "The suffering of the poor is something very beautiful and the world is being very much helped by the nobility of this example of misery and suffering," said Mother Teresa. Do we have to be grateful for this lecture of an eccentric billionaire?

Now from the other side penned by John Aravosis over at Americablog,,,

On first reading the news that top Democratic donor and gay civil rights advocate, Terry Bean, was arrested for allegedly having sex with an underage teen, something about the charges against Bean just didn’t add up.

As a result, I spent the weekend researching the story, and found a disturbing amount of troubling information about the other man at the center of this controversy, Bean’s now ex-boyfriend Kiah Loy Lawson (who also has been accused of having sex with the teen).

Lawson is so central to the charges against Bean, and his credibility is so tainted by a long record of violence and lawlessness, including a rather lengthy rap sheet, I’m all the more unsure what to believe at this point.

(I’m also surprised that much of the reporting on this story hasn’t mentioned any of Lawson’s disturbing past and present, which includes at least four different arrests for crimes as varied as possession of methamphetamine and a stolen vehicle, a probation violation, and two charges of tampering with evidence. Quite an accomplished list for someone only 25. But we’ll get to all that in a moment.)

Earlier this year, things began to fall apart between Bean and Lawson. At one point, both men filed restraining orders against each other. (Lawson eventually withdrew his; Bean’s remains in effect.) Lawson claims that his problems with Bean began when he “discovered” that Bean had an alleged secret camera in his bedroom. Bean counters that the camera is part of a security system he installed after being the victim of a theft, that he used it for nothing illegal or improper, and that Lawson’s allegations are part of a larger extortion attempt that Lawson is at the center of.

I have to admit that when I first heard Bean’s “extortion” defense, I said “come on.” But after everything I found on Lawson this weekend, including four recent arrests and an alleged history of violence against former coworkers and boyfriends, I’m now less of a skeptic.

Before getting to the crux of Lawson’s criminal past, a word about why Kiah Loy Lawson matters.

After all, you might say, this story isn’t about Lawson, it’s about whether or not Terry Bean had relations with a 15-year-old. And that is certainly the most serious charge Bean is facing (one that he denies). But that allegation can’t be separated from the fact that Lawson is the one responsible for putting the police in touch with the teen; Lawson is the person responsible for Bean facing these charges.

And Lawson’s credibility is nonexistent.

It was Lawson, after all, who reportedly gave the police the teen’s phone number. (Oddly, Lawson’s mother now claims that her son never had contact with the teen; that in fact it was Bean who communicated with the kid. So how then did Lawson have the teen’s phone number; and why did he still have it, still keep it, one year after their encounter?)

One of the first questions I asked myself after reading Aravosis' piece - was he doing a bit of apologia? A question also raised in the comments. Two Points raised in response by Aravosis,

,,,it is the same thing when you read the post in question and find out that every other story out there has already convicted the guy.  Sometimes being fair is about correcting the record and presenting more of the story than that which is already out there.

I don't find credible the testimony of meth addicts with long rap sheets who beat their spouses so hard that blood splatters on the wall.

A second question was raised by his use of reference to "long-term effects of meth, from DrugAbuse.gov:"

The thing with the President was last year. The meth arrests are this year. Look at the photos of Kiah that I posted. He was stunning last Xmas. Then progressive [sic] fell apart this year. It's possible Kiah wasn't nearly as into meth, and other problems, when Terry met him, and it's possible Kiah was but hid them well (he looked fine last year) and Terry had no idea until later. LIke [sic] you said, let's wait for more evidence, but it's just as likely Terry didn't know the guys entire past when he started dating.

I understand Aravosis' point, but I do not see what he sees in the pictures. The ravages of meth addiction are very obvious and based on the provided pictures it doesn't quite wash with me. It is still a very valid point and one that has to be taken into consideration especially in regards to Lawson's past.

A third point, and this was raised in the comments, the break-up of their relationship and the domestic violence issues.

Readers should be shocked that for a domestic violence attack that involved destruction of property and spattering the victim's blood on the walls, Lawson was convicted only of misdemeanor assault and did not serve any jail time. (scottrose)

Aravosis' response, "You know, it's funny, I keep finding myself having some lingering anti-gay bias in that I didn't even think of it in terms of "domestic violence" terms. Had a man beating his girlfriend so badly that there was blood on the wall, one would hope he'd be in jail a long time. Then again, he might not be."

To which "scottrose" responded with this interesting tid-bit, 

"On Feb. 15, Bean went to his Hayden Island condo and demanded that Lawson move out. The two men argued and police were called. An officer noticed a mark on Bean’s forehead, and Bean denied that Lawson caused it. But in a restraining-order petition he filed subsequently, Bean claimed Lawson had hit him."

In essence my original hesitancy to even post this story I believe was warranted, there is too much clutter going on. But where many in the comments seem to agree, Bean used very poor judgement in regards to his association with Lawson, which now taints his personal credibility,

Not the credibility of the LGBT movement, or the credibility of the HRC, or that of PRESIDENT Obama. As JoninMaryland points out on the Deace article comments,

When Todd Akin made his idiotic comments about "legitimate rape" the Left didn't claim that because of that one comment ALL conservatives were conducting a war on women. That's just factually untrue. The "war on women" concept is based on many things, ,,. It's based on so many factors, not simply Todd Akin's asinine comment. And no one with any sense claimed that ALL conservatives were guilty. The charge was always levied at the Republican Party as an entity. If you don't understand the difference between a charge levied at an entity and a charge that is meant to apply to every single individual, then you shouldn't even be in this business. Or really, functioning as an adult.

Did "the Left" claim that all Catholics are bad? That the entire Catholic church is corrupt? That's funny, because John Kerry is Catholic. So is Joe Biden. And thousands of other Democrats.

GOP 'Cranking' Enthusiast Tells Michiganders To Flee 'Homosexual Agenda'

Remember this story about Jordan Haskins of Michigan?  The political candidate that found joy in jerking off in cars?  Well it seems he has told residents to flee the state if the legislature approves an LGBT-inclusive nondiscrimination bill.

PrideSource reports that Jordan Haskins took to Facebook to blast an attempt to add protections for sexual orientation and gender identity to Michigan’s Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights, urging his supporters to leave the state in protest.

"If the state wants to trample religious freedom, we go somewhere else where our values are welcome," the candidate wrote on his Facebook page Oct. 8. "Michigan loses tax money, economic performance, jobs, etc. if they choose to be entrenched with the homosexual agenda, it's time for conservative christians (sic) to vote with their feet and their dollars."

In another post, Haskins boasted of his fight against the “homosexual movement.”

As a Texas state senator, Dan Patrick has conducted himself in a manner consistent with the shock jock he once was. Patrick—who is now the Republican nominee for lieutenant governor—has railed against everything from separation of church and state to Mexican coyotes who supposedly speak Urdu. He's even advised his followers that God is speaking to them through Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson.

A former sportscaster who once defended a football player who'd thrown a reporter through a door (Patrick believed it wasn't the journalist's job to do "negative reporting"), Patrick became a conservative talk radio host in the early 1990s—Houston's answer to Rush Limbaugh. Much like his fellow doomsday prophet Glenn Beck, televangelist Jim Bakker regularly dedicates segments of his show to selling survivalist food supplies while warning of the country’s imminent peril. Last week, Bakker discussed the Ebola outbreak and other possible calamities, including a collapse of the electrical grid.

Bakker said that while “90-some percent of all Americans will be dead in less than a year” if such a breakdown occurs, you and your family will be secure if you take advantage of his special “time of trouble” offer to purchase packages containing between 91 and 273 desserts, including ice cream sandwiches, chocolates and pudding.

The Single Greatest Civil Rights Threat of Our Time

According to Samuel Rodriguez the supposed threat to religious liberty is "the single greatest civil rights threat of our time."  Although I find Rodriguez's view a bit backward as he and his ilk are more of a threat to my civil rights, than I am to his.  His reality and my reality are two different things.

We live in a time where the very freedom to express our respective faith values stands threatened – a road we have never been down before. From the HHS mandate requiring religious organizations to sacrifice conviction on the altar of political expediency to the failed attempt by Uncle Sam to require businesses, such as Hobby Lobby, to abandon conscience or suffer the consequences of continued litigation, our freedom to worship stands threatened.

This violation of religious liberty is the core and quintessential civil rights issue of the 21st century. Dr. Martin Luther King opined, "The church must be reminded that it is not the master nor the servant of the state, but rather the conscience of the state. It must be the guide and the critic of the state, and never its tool."

The recent outrageous legal demand by city officials in Houston ordering pastors, two of whom are pastors on the NHCLC board, who opposed a recent measure to surrender any sermons addressing homosexuality, gender identity or Houston Mayor Annise Parker, the first openly lesbian mayor of a large city, exemplifies with absolute certainty that freedom of religion in America can best be characterized in the year 2014 as nothing other than an "endangered species." While the Mayor later backed off, saying that the subpoena of the pastor's sermons was too broad, the question remains, if it weren't for the uproar that was caused, would she have pulled back on her own?

For that matter, we must embrace one simple truth; silence is not an option. For with conviction and compassion we understand that a posture of complacency today will result in a position of captivity tomorrow. Thus, for the sake of our children and our children's children, I issue a clarion call to all people of faith to our fellow Americans that this nation birthed out of the seminal principle of religious liberty.

Homosexual Movement Is Deadly To Our Natural Rights

At this point, only the most deceived or grossly uninformed among us do not realize that a devilish enemy regime has taken over our nation.  Under Barack Obama (or whatever his name is) we have seen unprecedented lawlessness from the executive branch of the federal government.  The laundry list of Obama and company’s malfeasance and arguably impeachable offenses continues to grow.

Perhaps the most diabolical advancement of Obama’s tyrannical, anti-American agenda is in the area of the radical homosexual movement.  From militant homosexual activists, we have seen a full-frontal assault on the rights of Christians and others who oppose the campaign to force on America the acceptance of special “rights” for sexual deviants and the destruction of the definition of marriage.  We have seen Obama load his administration with open homosexuals.  He has appointed them to federal courts.  He has overseen the repeal of the prohibition on homosexuals openly serving in our military.  He has used his Justice Department to ignore federal law that correctly defined marriage.

Under Obama, the activists in the radical homosexual movement have become emboldened, drunk on their metastasizing power to crush the rights of the right-thinking people of America.  Examples of legal assaults against Christian business owners are piling up faster than ever before, and the most brazen to date occurred last week against pastors in Houston, Texas.  The story has been everywhere, as is the outrage of the American people, that city attorneys under the in-your-face homosexual Democrat Mayor of Houston, Annise Parker, demanded that local pastors turn over their sermons that relate to the detestable “Bathroom Bill” shoved down the throats of the city’s residents.  In part, it allows men to use women’s restrooms and other private, sex-segregated facilities.  This move by the City of Houston is a gross, illegal affront to the God-given, natural rights of Christians who live there.

Idaho City Threatens Christian Pastors with Jail if They Don’t Perform Same-Sex ‘Weddings’

For a lover of liberty who feels that the laws of our country do not apply, I bet the first words out of Tim Brown's mouth if anyone attempted to take away his guns he would be the Second Amendment.

However, as I pointed out at that time, this is not a federal issue and so anything ruled by the federal judge or the Supreme Court is irrelevant. It is a state issue and on top of that it is a Biblical one in the fact that it is about the defining of marriage. Thus, the governor of Idaho, as well as Scott Walker of Wisconsin and other governors of states that took this issue to the Supreme Court should stand up and say we aren’t following that ruling. It’s unlawful to do so and that court is not the final authority when it comes to this issue.

Notice the tiny disclaimer, "this issue."

I call on all U.S. governors to stand together and tell the Supreme Court to take a hike and tell these cities to stop attempting to enforce “pretended legislation” on the people to advance the homosexual agenda. Where are the people of Idaho? Why are they not protesting this city council and the governor over this issue?

As a final note, if you have a problem with me using terms like “queer,” “homosexual,” and “sodomite,” you might want to check yourself. This is what these people are. They are not “gay.” They are degenerates and they have your children as a target. If you don’t stand up to them Christians and get rid of your spineless, easily offended thin-skinned, you are going to get steamrolled and your children will be the ultimate victims. Call on your elected officials to enforce the state laws, which remain on the books against the sodomites…..for the sake of the gospel and the sake of your children!

And in a perfect world, the Salvation Army would not be able to discriminate against one in need who happens to be a lesbian.  Or a church could not demand/require attendance at services in order to get help from a community supported (via voluntary wage deductions) charity,,,

In audio obtained by Iowa Public Radio, Senate hopeful Joni Ernst told a group of reporters that the reason Republicans oppose Obamacare is because the job of caring for the poor is simply not the purview of government. The poor, she said, should rely on churches and charitable organizations for help.

“We’re looking at Obamacare right now,” Ernst said. “Once we start with those benefits in January, how are we going to get people off of those? It’s exponentially harder to remove people once they’ve already been on those programs.”

“We have lost a reliance on not only our own families, but so much of what our churches and private organizations used to do,” she went on. “They used to have wonderful food pantries. They used to provide clothing for those that really needed it, but we have gotten away from that. Now we’re at a point where the government will just give away anything. We have to stop that.”

We long have wondered how the ultimate police state would unfold, and how an antiChrist sort of dictatorship would eventuate. Well, I think we are starting to get a pretty good idea about all this. Today the most likely candidate of this in the West is undoubtedly the militant homosexual lobby.

Whenever we find various freedoms and rights being taken away from ordinary citizens in the West, we can more often than not count on the homosexual brigade to be involved. As they demand special rights for themselves, they are happy to strip away the rights of everyone else.

And since the homosexual militants have long made known their aims to challenge the Christian churches especially, it is no surprise to see the Christian faith coming under increasing attack. Indeed, all this is not unexpected. Any recent coercive movement seeking dominance has always had to target the churches.

In the past century, for example, whenever totalitarian regimes took power, the normal practice was to shut down churches, to destroy churches, or at least closely monitor and control the churches. Even sermons were monitored, with only state approved ones allowed to be delivered.

Eugene Delgaudio Warns Gay Men Will Soon Be 'Skipping Down To Adoption Centers To Pick Out A Little Boy For Themselves'

Eugene Delgaudio, a Loudoun County, Virginia Republican supervisor who heads the group Public Advocate of the United States is warning his supporters that gay people are preparing to “terrorize daycare centers, hospitals, churches and private schools” by teaching schoolchildren “perverted sex acts” and getting married, at which point “[y]ou’ll see men hand-in-hand skipping down to adoption centers to ‘pick out’ a little boy for themselves.”

In a fundraising email yesterday with the subject line, “They say you support homosexual ‘marriage,’” Delgaudio told supporters that he is the only one who can reverse the “Homosexual Agenda” in Congress.

LaBarbera: America Must Embrace 'Christian Oriented Law That Does Not Try To Grant Civil Rights Status To A Sin'

Peter LaBarbera appeared on the "Point of View" radio program yesterday where he proclaimed that America must embrace "Christian oriented law" so that groups like his Americans For Truth About Homosexuality, the Family Research Council, and the America Family Association will no longer be smeared as "hate groups" because of their anti-gay activism.

Saying that gay activists no longer believe in tolerance, LaBarbera declared that such activists are intent on destroying anyone who will not embrace the "fiction" that gay relationships are acceptable by attacking them as haters.

Peroutka: Nondiscrimination Laws Plot To Replace God With Government 'Idolatry'

Peroutka — who is also a GOP candidate for a county office in Maryland — agreed, saying “If you believe that you are God, as government has proved over and over again that it believes it is…you don’t want there to be another God, you don’t want anybody to have an allegiance to the one true and living God, the God of the Bible whose son is Jesus Christ, because if that exists it is the enemy of your own idolatry.”

Mike Huckabee repeated his recommendation that governors simply ignore the Supreme Court’s decision to let stand lower court rulings legalizing marriage equality in several new states, adding that state governments should have also ignored Roe v. Wade and the Supreme Court rulings banning school-sponsored prayer.

When Deace pressed him on the “maelstrom” that would be set off if state governments simply ignored court rulings on marriage, Huckabee responded that it was in fact the courts that have set off a “constitutional crisis” by ruling in favor of marriage equality.

“I look back to 1973,” he said, referring to the year in which Roe v. Wade was decided, “and I’m wondering what would have happened if the two branches of government, the executive and the legislative, simply said, ‘We appreciate your opinion, court, but now if states wish to empower that, I guess they can do so, but until that happens we’re not automatically going to go killing 55 million babies over the next 40 years.’”

In cases such as Roe and rulings in favor of marriage equality and church-state separation, Huckabee said, elected officials should have said, “Well, the courts have spoken and it’s an important voice, but it’s not the voice of God and the Supreme Court isn’t God” and simply ignored the courts’ rulings.

“Is this about sinful people want to engage in their sin, or is this about making a statement that you will go along with the sin?” Peroutka asked about the LGBT rights movement.

Deace responded by repeating his theory that LGBT people are simply seeking “validation” from the government because they can’t get it from God, adding: “We have two moral vices that have a powerful political lobby in America. One is sexually driven and the other one’s driven on covetousness, that’s the welfare state and victimology.”

“It seems to me that the reason that it’s got to be validated, perversion has to be validated, because recruitment is necessary,” Peroutka added. “This deathstyle — I don’t call it a lifestyle — this deathstyle does not reproduce, it needs to recruit, so it’s got to recruit your children.”
