So you say you make no claims in your book,,, I beg to differ (Pt 1)

What comes next are some of the asinine statements and claims Jillian makes in her book, The Jilly Juice Protocol. There are so many that this post would be so hugely long I may split the statements and claims into 2-parts; maybe three.  It is important to remember I am a layperson. I have no scientific education beyond my attempt at college with some self learning after, when needed. I have made no attempt to debunk her scientific claims beyond a simple google or reading what she cites.

This isn't about debunking anyways, but about using critical thinking when evaluating what someone presents. What Jillian presents, doesn't even get past the sniff test, and I do mean that literally. (If you have never smelled fermenting cabbage it can be a bit off-putting. In the case of JJ and her procedures, I suspect it is not a ferment but rotting cabbage with a shit-tonne of salt.)

Jillian likes to biotch that we critics, don't understand her material. That the information is all in the book, supported by science. I have read both books. Ignoring the actual contents for a moment, they are horrible. Besides formatting errors, the grammar is awful. I could let that slide if presented with something earth-shattering, but Jillian doesn't produce.

Epperly has rehashed ideas that have been in existence since the early 1920s. Poop feeds
Candida, IOWs auto-intoxication. “The bacterial community residing in the large bowel of humans was a source of substances toxic to the nervous and vascular systems of the host. These toxic substances, absorbed from the bowel and circulating in the bloodstream, contributed to the ageing[sic] process.”  (More on that later.) As for Candida being the root of cancer, also not original. Initially proposed by C. Orian Truss In The Missing Diagnosis (83), followed by The Yeast Connection by Dr. William Crook. More recently, Dr. Tullio Simoncini, an oncologist from Italy, makes the argument that fungus is the One True Cause of Cancer.

Hell her JJ isn't even original. She admits to bastardizing an already existing recipe upping the salt content.

Anyways,,,I digress!

Not necessarily a “claim” per se but an assertion that we are not in control. That our life spans are determined by something or someone outside of self.

According to Jillian,

What comes next is packed with bullshit, that's not how antibiotics work.

First, she has no understanding what an antibiotic is or its use, “As the name implies, antibiotics are anti-life. That means all life! Antibiotics are not just available in a pill. There are plant-based antibiotic therapies.”

Just NO!!

She re-defines a word to suit her purposes.
Man-made antibiotics are specifically targeted to bacteria; either designed to inhibit or kill. A plant based antibiotic, whatever that is, has an evolutionary function for the plant in question. By this token, she is against any and all alt-med and allopathic medicine she perceives as competition.

For example, she recently went after anti-vaxx loon Amanda Mary.

As well as CBD oil and Rick Simpson,

She hints at immortality being a possibility, “You will see how your life is programmed by understanding what is antibiotic and what is probiotic because if you don’t know what is antibiotic, how do you determine how aggressive you are to do this protocol and maintain proper maintenance levels throughout the rest of your life which could be over a hundred years?

Does she think we are some lab experiment infested with “body thetans” that must be ejected. (Remember Landmark is an offshoot of Scientology. Something I hope to delve into at a later date.)

It is either you and your body, or the parasites, fungi and virus microbes that will live on. If your life is fraught with “genetic disorders” such as birth defects, Cancer, disease, auto immune disorders, allergies, or anything anomalous to great health based upon the meaning of life, you are in competition with another life form,,,”

WTF,,,”meaning of life”. There is no grand standard on what that is. We all give life meaning by whatever provides contentment, happiness, joy. (Pick a term) There is no absolute on what the “meaning of life” is or is not.

I work within the limitations my body (or mind) place before me. Do I ever go beyond those limitation? Sure, but I pay a price for doing such. But I am not infested with some entity that needs purged. They tried that shit in 83, took years of therapy to overcome.

This doesn't make rational sense let alone from a science POV, “,,,all bacteria based upon a virus microbe or a type of fungus or even a parasite.” Only commonality is they are all pathogens or infectious agent. IOWs a biological agent that causes disease or illness to its host. Bacteria, viruses, microbes, fungus, and parasites are all different beasties.

Bacteria are complex, single-celled creatures with a rigid wall and a thin, rubbery membrane surrounding the fluid inside the cell. They can reproduce on their own. Viruses are tinier, all they have is a protein coat and a core of genetic material, either RNA or DNA. Unlike bacteria, viruses can't survive without a host. Why viruses are not microorganism. Viruses are deemed non-living and therefore NOT an organism of any kind. They are, to put it simply, rouge proteins.

Fungi can be a bit tricky to explain. A vaginal yeast infection is a fungus. Athlete's foot is a fungus. Mushrooms are a fungus The commonalities that make them fungi, chitin in their cell walls. Fungi can be infected by mycophages (Latin for fungi virus).

So, as usual we have one of two things. Either Epperly doesn't know science or what she its talking about when science is involved. Or, two, she is redefining words to fit her twisted agenda. I think it is both. She has no fucking clue what she is talking about and forces words to mean what she wants them to mean.

There is a third option as well, she is intentionally being dishonest for monetary gain. If she was actually making money off this scam, I might think that to be true. But reports have stated she has made very little ~$6600.

I was just informed there is a fourth option, one that slipped my mind. “If anything at all! I think she's just a narcissist[ic] messiah who has serious delusions about her ability to understand anything.”

This is another 2 for 1 claim, the section header says it all. The whopper, living to 120-130 years old.

I'm sorry but your slop in antithetical to living a long life. And I don't know about anyone else, but the thought of living to 120 doesn't really thrill me IF I have to drink her slop everyday.

I almost missed this one,,, but in your discussion concerning B-12 you state,

I find your concern for contaminants heart warming. You recently stated to a member of your forum, to ignore a governmental warning concerning contaminated produce and make your slop and consume it.

So which is it Jillian, should we be concerned about contaminants or not? Your advice is counter to known science. Using the “government” conspiracy shtick wont work as you yourself have stated your information comes from government sources.

If the salt concentration is high enough to kill pathogens, it is strong enough to kill the Lactobacillus. As the article notes more study is needed. (There are many other studies available as well demonstration the same thing.)

Although scientists already know that TH17 cells are affected by the gut microbiome, the finding that salt kills off healthy bacteria in the microbiome is new.

More and more, scientists are investigating the role that bacteria play in diseases, but there are a lot of unknowns when it comes to how the body interacts with the bacteria that reside in the gut.

The authors behind the study argue that more research is needed to better understand how gut health affects the health of the body's other systems, such as cardiovascular health, and the extent to which probiotics might provide useful treatments for conditions such as high blood pressure.

We can't exclude the possibility that there are other salt-sensitive bacteria that are just as important as Lactobacillus," he continues. "This could be the tip of the iceberg in targeting gut bacteria for treating serious illnesses."

The meme says it all,,,

By stating “will” - that's a claim!! Have you had it tested by the FDA? Do you have any peer reviewed literature published in support of your claim?

This has nothing to do with context. It has to do with the fact that your POV is factually wrong and you will kill someone with your advice. The above two example demonstrates that quite well. It's not even misinformation as you are presenting information that is contrary to science. Science doesn't care what you believe. And if you present sources to substantiate your claim you have to accept those same sources when your deception is noted. You cant have it both ways.

So we are through chapter 3, and this seems a good place to stop before I become too verbose.

More to come,,,
