Vladimir Putin: If Gay People Marry, Russians Will Stop Having Children - The New Civil Rights Movement

Vladimir Putin insists the if his country made same-sex marriage legal, a demographic nightmare would ensue, causing a huge population drop because Russians would stop having babies. This ludicrous public policy was revealed in a lengthy profile of the relationship between Russian President Vladimir Putin and UK Prime Minister David Cameron, published this past weekend by the London Daily Mail.

The revelation came in 2013 during a conversation between the two heads of state. Cameron was in the middle of pushing for same-sex marriage while Putin was ramping up his anti-gay homophobia and enshrining it into law.

"The conversation takes a bizarre twist and they end up having a ‘bickerfest’ about gay rights, both wanting to have the last word," the Daily Mail reports.

Putin's statement is similar to ugly theories of a "demographic winter" popularized several years ago by the religious right, including Maggie Gallagher. Their idea is conservatives have to make more babies than liberals in order to ensure conservative ideals are propagated by more people – as if everyone born into conservative families stays conservative.

Religious Right Cheers On Vladimir Putin As Anti-LGBT Violence In Russia Surges | Right Wing Watch

Just how bizarre is the Reich's "love" of Putin? Well they can't really seem to be able to make up their minds, as just 7 days prior, presidential hopeful Ben Carson stated that he would tell President Obama to stop violating the Constitution: “Our president is very much like Putin.”

So is Putin a good guy or a bad guy?
While most of the news on Russia this week has been focused on the country’s ongoing financial collapse, it is important to highlight a report released by Human Rights Watch on Monday documenting the rise of anti-LGBT violence in Russia along with the ways the government, which recently passed new laws curbing LGBT rights, has ensured virtual impunity for the perpetrators of such attacks. Following the report’s release, Russia added a LGBT legal aid group to a list of NGOs that must register as “foreign agents.”

The uptick in violence against LGBT Russians certainly won't discourage Religious Right activists from supporting Putin, many of whom also seem more than willing to ignore his deadly incursion into Ukraine , support for laws curbing the freedoms of Russian evangelical Christians and other human rights abuses.

Nothing, it seems, can dissuade many of Putin’s American supporters, several of whom recently attended an anti-LGBT conference at the Kremlin, from believing that the U.S. should adopt anti-gay laws modeled on Russia’s, such as a ban on gay “propaganda” and adoption by same-sex parents.

In fact, many Religious Right activists in the U.S. believe that Putin is on a mission from God to save Russia, and the world, from the LGBT community.

Emails Show "Pro-Family" Activists Feeding Contacts To Russian Nationalists - BuzzFeed News

Like this article posted back in October which discusses the influence of certain US Evangelicals in Russia:
Cutting against growing tensions between the United States and Russia, influential and politically well-connected, Tea Party-aligned American evangelical leaders – including one who has called for a “military takeover” – who hold dominionist or even theocratic political leanings and are tied to former high-level U.S. military and intelligence community members, have over the past decade allied with one of Russian president Vladimir Putin’s closest political allies, Vladimir Yakunin.
The attached follows along in the same vane.  On that list is Brian Brown of NOM
The emails include frequent correspondence between senior Russian figures, such as Dugin, the financier Konstantin Malofeev — who has close ties to Russian-backed separatists in Ukraine and is a patron of causes dear to the Orthodox Church — and Alexey Komov, an official with the Orthodox patriarchy and the “Russian representative” of the World Congress of Families, a social conservative network based in Rockford, Illinois.
,,,
The conversations also make clear that Malofeev relies on Gavrish as a gatekeeper with some European contacts. It also includes discussion of a global summit of social conservative leaders convened in Moscow in September organized by Komov, including two emails in which Komov sends a full list of people invited to the conference — along with their contact information and details of passports and visas — to Gavrish.

The conference caused an uproar in the United States because it was originally organized as a World Congress of Families summit, but the WCF was forced to drop its official sponsorship when some American partner organizations withdrew their participation in protest of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Komov, who had promoted the event as the “‘Olympics’ of the international Pro-Life movement supporting the Natural Family,” moved ahead with the event under the auspices of foundations controlled by Malofeev and another oligarch in Vladimir Putin’s inner circle, president of the state-owned railway company Vladimir Yakunin, and two members of the WCF’s leadership served on the organizing committee.
,,,
The conference closed with a declaration calling on the world to stand against LGBT rights in order to “unite before the threat of total dehumanization of society, to set up a barrier on the road of ideology-lined, state-supported interference in the private lives of people, in an attempt to foist specific sexual lifestyles and preferences of the minority upon the majority.”

U.S. Pro-Coup Evangelicals Ally With Putin Inner Circle | TWO Care

This is quite interesting and I am still trying to digest it all but it seems to boil down to this. A group of evangelical leaders (extreme Dominionists and NAR devotees) in the United States have formed an alliance with none other than Vladimir Putin.

A quick overview shows that this palls in comparison to harmless religious rhetoric and the meddling of the Reich in Russian anti-gay laws. Militancy and armed insurrection are constant themes.

I'm going to need serious time to take this all in as there are some huge names in all this,,,

Lawmaker Compares Labor Unions To Hitler | ThinkProgress

If I didn't know any better I would say that the Reich is living up to its name sake. What is it with GOP/TP wing-nuts, besides being offensive and stupid, that everything they don't like is compared to Hitler or the Nazis; called fascist, Marxist, socialist or communist (or in some instances a combination of 3 or more). And if I remember correctly, didn't Hitler outlaw unions? (I will have to look that up and get back to you on that point.)
__
“The unions are about power and control,” state Sen. Scott Wagner (R) said. “And there are two things that I continue to remember about power and control. There was a gentleman by the name of Hitler, he was about power and control. There’s a gentleman by the name of Putin, who’s across the ocean, that’s about power and control.”

In an interview with the Associated Press, Wagner later clarified that he wasn’t comparing unions to the strongmen, but merely “talking about the concept of power and control.” “I didn’t say the unions are out killing people,” he added.

But that explanation didn’t sit will with Pennsylvania State Education Association president Mike Crossey, who criticized the comments. “This kind of language is shocking, offensive and has no place in public discourse,” Crossey said. “It is so disappointing to see a powerful elected official making such an awful comparison. What a terrible example this sets for our children.”

Fischer: It's 'Inexcusable' That America Does Not Have Russian-Style Anti-Gay Laws | Right Wing Watch

A reader submitted article,,,

Bryan Fischer has made no secret of the fact that he wants to see Russian-style anti-gay "propaganda" laws passed in the United States, going so far as to praise Vladimir Putin as "the lion of Christianity" for leading his nation's crackdown on gays.

On yesterday's radio broadcast, Fischer again voiced his support for implementing such laws in America, declaring that it is "inexcusable" that these sorts of laws are not being put into place here.

Scott Lively Blames Gays For Ukraine Crisis, Lauds Russia As Human Rights Leader Of The World | Right Wing Watch

What the hell does the Magna Carta have to do with anything,
Today, both the Magna Carta and the First Amendment are deemed to be trumped by the “right to sodomy” in case after case, and pro-homosexual activist federal judges in the U.S. are striking down “Defense of Marriage” laws in the most morally conservative states in the union with brazen disregard for the Constitution and the will of the people.
Anti-gay pastor Scott Lively is standing with Russian president Vladimir Putin in the Ukraine crisis, hailing Putin’s government for cracking down on LGBT rights and becoming a “defender of true human rights.”

Writing today in WorldNetDaily, Lively said that LGBT equality in the US is destroying the Constitution and the rule of law, creating “special rights for favored groups” and putting America “in a death spiral of moral and ethical degeneracy.”

In contrast, he writes, Russia “has begun embracing Christian values regarding family issues.”

“And this is why the greatest point of conflict between the U.S. and Russia is the question of homosexuality (I believe even the conflict in Ukraine is being driven to a large extent by this issue, at least on the part of the Obama State Department and the homosexualist leaders of the EU.),” Lively writes.
