Pat Robertson, a big fan of ex-gay pseudo-therapy, fielded a question from a “700 Club” viewer today who asked if God could “take away this same-sex attraction” and “change a homosexual to straight.”

Confusing sexual orientation with gender identity, Robertson said that his network once profiled the transformation of an “absolutely gorgeous” woman who “was a man” until “the Lord touched him, changed him and now he is marrying and has some children and has a very happy life.”

“It is a miracle but God can do it,” he said. “It is a tendency in your life.”

It is not as if my opinion of the old bloviating windbag could get any worse, but Pat just joined the ranks of William Lane Craig:  "If [you] believe, as I do, that God’s grace is extended to those who die in infancy or as small children, the death of these children was actually their salvation. We are so wedded to an earthly, naturalistic perspective that we forget that those who die are happy to quit this earth for heaven’s incomparable joy. Therefore, God does these children no wrong in taking their lives."

“As far as God’s concerned, he knows the end from the beginning and He sees a little baby and that little baby could grow up to be Adolf Hitler, he could grow up to be Joseph Stalin, he could grow up to be some serial killer, or he could grow up to die of a hideous disease,” Robertson said. “God sees all of that, and for that life to be terminated while he’s a baby, he’s going to be with God forever in Heaven so it isn’t a bad thing.” 

Like Craig, Robertson has "succeeded" in justifying the slaughter of innocent children.

Marco Rubio: Gay Rights 'A Real And Present Danger' To Freedom | Right Wing Watch

Marco Rubio was the subject of a fawning profile on today’s edition of “The 700 Club,” in which host Pat Robertson hailed the GOP presidential candidate as “the Democrats’ worst nightmare.”

In an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody, Rubio warned that gay marriage represents “a real and present danger” to America because gay rights advocates are bent on labeling any anti-gay messages, including those from churches, as “hate speech.”

“We are at the water’s edge of the argument that mainstream Christian teaching is hate speech because today we’ve reached the point in our society where if you do not support same-sex marriage, you are labeled a homophobe and a hater,” Rubio said. “So what’s the next step after that? After they’re done going after individuals, the next step is to argue that the teachings of mainstream Christianity, the catechism of the Catholic Church, is hate speech. That’s a real and present danger.”

Dan Arel, in his OP concerning the Rubio interview, makes a good point,

If you are unfamiliar with the term “strawman” you just saw a clear definition. While the LGBT community and its allies are fighting tooth and nail to be treated equally by the federal government, it has never once tried to silence religion or apply any label to it. Rubio has invented an enemy that doesn’t exist and is attacking it.

But why would Rubio fear Christianity could be labeled hate speech? Because what he is saying again and again is, in fact, hate speech. Rubio is fighting to make sure LGBT citizens of the U.S. are given fewer rights than straight ones. He actively campaigns on making them second-class citizens.

This is also a massive insult to the millions of LGBT Christians. The thing is, Rubio only believes there is one kind of Christian, his kind, and if you’re not on his side, you’re not a true Christian.

Pat Robertson today rebuked the Supreme Court for “punting” on marriage equality, blasting the courts — along with Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring — for “overriding the wishes of the states” to “protect traditional marriage.”

The “700 Club” host later compared the decision to Roe v. Wade: “It’s the same thing with abortion. Instead of letting the people decide as they should’ve under the Constitution, it was taken out of their hands by the Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade and because of that no effort by the people has been successful ever since and it’s been a travesty as we’ve seen over 50 million unborn babies slaughtered in this land.”

Pat Robertson, TV preacher and proud owner of a poorly calibrated moral compass, declared on Tuesday’s episode of “The 700 Club” that we should distribute guns to churches because “blessed are the fully armed.”

“Violent attacks and even deaths on church property occur far more often than people realize,” he said. “The good news: You can protect yourself. What are you going to do, are you going to give church members AK-47s at the door to let them blow away those intruders?” No, probably not.

The show then aired a segment on “Eyes and Ears” teams, which are made up of members of the congregation, who serve shifts to watch out for any suspicious behavior.

“What is the new beatitude?” Robertson said cheerfully after the segment. “Blessed are the fully armed because theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.”

So… presumably straight single mothers turn their sons gay? As if a single mom’s attraction to the opposite sex is going to magically transfer over to her son because he has no way to “learn” attraction to women otherwise? (Poll for straight readers: At exactly what moment in your life did you decide to be heterosexual?)

Also, it’s disturbing the way he says “see what happens,” as if this whole thing is an experiment. Yes, sexual orientation is fluid, to an extent, but it’s not as easy as changing out a few variables and seeing what you get.

A casual reminder here that the vast majority of LGBT people are born to straight parents because — surprise! — the vast majority of people have straight parents. You don’t need a dad around to grow up to be a straight man,,,

More importantly, if you grow up and you’re not a straight man, regardless of who your parents are, that’s okay.

Instead of recommending that the mother seek medical attention, Robertson said that the boy could be “oppressed or possessed by demons.”

“You need to get somebody with you who understands the spiritual dimension and doing spiritual warfare,” he continued. “If I were you, I would look back in your family. What in your family — do you have anybody involved in the occult, somebody in witchcraft or tarot cards or psychic things?”

“Has there something been there that you don’t know about. Some grandparent, great grandparent or something. Look into the family tree, and then get some people in there and cast this stuff out. But that does not sound like normal.”

I think I just threw up a little while reading this, how despicable and asinine. No wonder we have Elliot Rogers in the world, this was his bargaining position as one who deserved sex for being a "nice guy".

“Here’s the deal,” he said. “You’ve got to understand the male psyche. The male wants to do something for his wife. He wants to provide for his family, he wants to provide a home, he wants to provide shelter, and food. That’s what he feels his male obligation is. And when he cleans up, it’s saying, I love you.”

“And you’re supposed to say to him, ‘Darling, you are wonderful, and I love you too,’” the evangelist continued. “Instead of that, you’re saying, ‘We’ve got a deal. We have a partnership.’ Now, do you want to have a loving, warm, sensuous, exciting marriage or do you want to have a partnership? And would you like to have a business relationship with your spouse? And that’s what you’re asking for.”

Although CBN co-host Terry Meeuwsen didn’t buy Robertson’s advice, she called it a “wonderful perspective,” and she publicly thanked her husband for doing the dishes.

“He’s saying, I love you!” Robertson insisted. “Each dish, he’s saying, ‘Terry, I love you.’ If you understood that, you say, ‘Darling, I’ve got a treat for you… wait until we get behind closed doors, and you see the treat I have for you.’”

“Do we accept adultery? Do we accept fornication? Do we accept immorality?” he asked. “I don’t think we ought to be accepting of it.”

Robertson went on to praise gays as “very talented people” with “an enormous capacity for artistic expression.”

So the other day when I posted concerning Mr. Senility himself, the only come-back I had in me was the "pot calling the kettle black." Not very original I know, as my brain was dealing with the after-effects of the flu. But an hour later, I was directed to the attached posting and a subsequent discussion which basically came down to the following three points:

1] To quote my friend Dave Foda: "However, one of his main points, that Pat Robertson is a Biblical hypocrite, is unquestionable. Apparently, Robertson insists that Christians should keep their faith to themselves, when St. Paul demands the opposite, in I Peter 3:15 ("always be ready to give a defense of your faith")

"As usual, Robertson is a hypocrite. He tells his viewers to keep their Christian “stuff” to themselves, while he has made a career, and a small fortune, slinging that very same “stuff” to a television audience of gullible believers for decades."

2] "The fact that Robertson resorts to a simple minded ad hominem attack against atheists is not surprising. Referring to atheists as “swine” is a poor excuse for an argument, yet Robertson really has no argument. In fact, he openly admits that Christians cannot adequately defend their beliefs."

“You don’t have to do that,” Robertson replied. “The Bible also says you don’t have to cast your pearls before swine because they will turn and rend you.”

Robertson continued: “You talk about the social media, you’ve got everybody known to man out there. But why would you put your pearls out, and why would you argue with those people? I mean, keep your stuff to yourself.”

3] Contradiction was another point brought out during discussion, "Actually, if the Christians want to be Biblically correct, they shouldn't even talk about their religion with anyone but Jews. That's what Jesus is actually quoted as having said in the Bible (Matthew, 10:5-6).

So in essence, a better way of stating, "a pot calling the kettle black."

TV preacher Pat Robertson on Thursday advised his viewers not to engage atheists — who he said were like “swine” — on social media about the existence of God.

During the viewer questions segment of Thursday’s 700 Club broadcast, one email asked about how to handle atheists who wanted to “argue” whether God was real.

“Whenever I post something on social media about my faith, many atheists comment that what I believe is wrong and try to argue about God’s existence,” the viewer named Christine explained. “Should I argue back and try to prove His existence or should I just ignore it?”

“You don’t have to do that,” Robertson replied. “The Bible also says you don’t have to cast your pearls before swine because they will turn and rend you.”

Televangelist Pat Robertson on Tuesday lashed out at the Planned Parenthood organization, and said that some chapters had over a billion dollars in cash on hand.

During Tuesday’s edition of The 700 Club, Robertson highlighted a former Indiana Planned Parenthood nurse who accused the organization of existing “for no other reason than to kill unborn babies.”

“Planned Parenthood is enormously rich,” he opined. “And some of these individual chapters may have as much as a billion dollars in cash on hand. They are getting right now from the federal government — it’s in the budget — $550 million a year. Taxpayer money to go into that abortion mill.”

As for the claim that some chapters have a “billion dollars,” the most recent Planned Parenthood annual report notes that all of the affiliates and the national office combined have total assets of $1.6 billion.
