Coyote Tied Up And Hung In Sick Ritual Finally Gets The Dignity He Deserves

Still baffled how the "in the name of religion" mentality can be used to justify inhumane actions to man and beast.

Eight African lions, a mountain lion, two lynxes and a coyote are moving to their new home at The Wild Animal Sanctuary after an epic rescue from Mexico.

One of these incredibly lucky dozen, CanCan, has a story that is as heartbreaking as it is bizarre.

The 12-year-old coyote was rescued from a place where he was used for Santeria rituals. These rituals involved tying his front paws together and hanging him in the air for days — sometimes WEEKS — on end. 

As noted by Doubtful News, 

There is dispute over use of animals in this religious tradition. Sacrifices mostly seem to involve chickens where the followers say they are killed humanely. There remains in some states laws against killing without any exemptions. The Supreme Court took up the question in 1993 with specific reference to Santeria.

Two East Texas teenagers were indicted by a Nacogdoches County grand jury earlier this month for allegedly killing animals in a satanic type ritual.

Court documents show Delaney Walters, 18, and Mark Tyler Ainsworth, 17, will each face three cruelty to non livestock animal charges. The jury indicted them on the morning of June 6.

Once again Satanism is misrepresent in media. Performance of any type of ritualistic type killing goes against the core beliefs. Satanists are atheists, "the only people who perform sacrifices are those who believe in supernatural beings who would consider a sacrifice to be some form of payment for a request or form of worship. Since we do not believe in supernatural beings there is no reason for a Satanist to make a sacrifice of any sort."

These "children" are not Satanist by a long shot and any attempts to classify them as such should be met with resistance. "People who believe in some Devilish supernatural being and worship him are Devil-worshippers, not Satanists,,, In Satanism each individual is his or her own god—there is no room for any other god and that includes Satan, Lucifer, Cthulhu or whatever other name one might select or take from history or fiction."

"Satanism advocates that young people should spend time in self-exploration—discovering talents and developing them, as well as in exploring the world around you—the many philosophies and cultures that exist, so that you can use your freedom of choice wisely, and come to understand yourself."

They are definitely not candidates for membership in the Church of Satan!!

Idaho Asks Judge To Toss 'Ag Gag' Challenge From Animal And Civil Rights Activists

Attorneys for Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter are asking a federal judge to toss a lawsuit challenging a new law that makes it illegal to secretly film animal abuse at agricultural facilities.

A coalition of animal activists, civil rights groups and media organizations sued the state last month, asking U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill to strike down what they call an "ag gag" law. The coalition contends that the law curtails freedom of speech and makes gathering proof of animal abuse a crime with a harsher punishment than the penalty for animal cruelty itself.

Otter signed the law in February after Idaho's $2.5 billion dairy industry complained that videos showing cows being abused at a southern Idaho dairy unfairly hurt business. The Los Angeles-based animal rights group Mercy For Animals released the videos, which showed workers at Bettencourt Dairy beating cows in 2012.
