Lucian Wintrich blamed yesterday’s school shooting that killed 17 people in Florida on liberals who have “demonized” the church in favor of “fringe ways of thinking.”

“Part of it is the lack of community and the lack of the role of the church in modern American society. And I think that the way the left has disparaged that, what they’ve done—and it infuriates me what the left has done these days—is they have demonized Christianity, the church, Jesus Christ, who if you read his teachings, right, it was ‘We’re all brothers. Look out for one another.’ The left has demonized that and then propelled these fringe ways of thinking." (Source)

Male students today are not being taught the virtues and responsibilities of masculinity.

“This will sound horrible, but I have to say it. Instead of the aftermath of these shootings in Florida being, ‘Hey, dude,’ where young guys are saying to each other, ‘I’m gonna learn to fire a gun, I ain’t ever gonna let this happen again, I’m gonna learn to fire a gun,’ instead the reaction is, ‘Oh, please take the guns away.’ The exact opposite message! Meet power with power! That’s manhood, masculinity!"

A New York Republican congresswoman said the people behind many mass shootings turn out to be Democrats.

Yeah, well, obviously there is a lot of politics in it, and it’s interesting that so many of these people that commit the mass murders end up being Democrats, but the media doesn’t talk about that either,” Tenney told talk show host Fred Dicker.

Far Right Blogs, Conspiracy Theorists Attack Parkland Mass Shooting Survivor

On 20 February 2018, as a group of students from the Parkland, Florida mass shooting attack traveled to their state capitol to lobby for tighter gun safety measures, far right conspiracy blogs pushed increasingly hysterical claims that at least one of the survivors of the massacre was a “deep state” pawn.

For example, TheGatewayPundit.com posted a story calling it a “red flag” that David Hogg, a senior who survived the Valentine’s Day attack at the campus of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, volunteered during a CNN interview that his father is a retired agent from the Federal Bureau of Investigation as he criticized the Trump administration. President Donald Trump had accused the bureau of “spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign” and thus failing to follow up on warnings concerning the suspect, Nikolas Cruz.

Concerning Hogg, I found this enlightening!

CFI Won’t Appeal Ruling Allowing Christian Ex-Convict Ministries in Florida to Get State Funding

Unfortunately, CFI announced yesterday that the appeal would not be taking place after all. Lindsay cited strategic reasons for why the organization would not be moving forward:

… reluctantly we have come to the conclusion that it would be imprudent and a disservice to the cause of church-state separation if we pursued this case on appeal. As stated at the outset of this statement, before bringing or pursuing a lawsuit, it is incumbent upon a nonprofit organization to make sure it has a reasonable chance of prevailing and that the litigation will not create bad precedent.

Here’s the sad situation: appellate judges in Florida are appointed by the governor. Ultra-conservative Rick Scott has now appointed seven of the twelve appellate judges who sit on the First District Court of Appeal. Thus, the composition of that court, which was already moderately conservative at the time of our 2010 appeal, has now moved firmly into the camp of the religious right. We are concerned that were we to appeal, we would not only lose our appeal, but the court would revisit the favorable 2010 decision we obtained and reverse it.
Therefore, a dispassionate review of our chances on appeal indicates we likely would lose and, moreover, we may well create bad precedent that would eliminate our hard-won victory and hurt the chances of other litigants. (As it stands now, the trial court’s decision, since it is the decision of the lower court, would have no preclusive effect on other cases.)

We are, of course, very grateful for our donors who have supported our efforts in this litigation, and we hope you understand that the best use of your support is to preserve the partial victory we have obtained already rather than to spend more money and risk losing it.

Dave Daubenmire: Parents Would Rather Have Their Sons Be Addicted To Drugs Than Gay

Government Will Try To Figure Out How Many Americans Are Now Part Of The “On-Demand” Workforce

How many Americans are making money from “on-demand” jobs — like being an Uber driver, selling stuff on Etsy, or renting out a room on Airbnb — that either didn’t exist until a few years ago or have exploded in popularity thanks to technological innovations? No one really knows, with various reports putting it at anywhere from 5% of the workforce to more than a third. So, for the first time in more than a decade, the U.S. Department of Labor will try to get a more accurate headcount on so-called “contingent” workers.

Yesterday, Labor Secretary Tom Perez announced that the Bureau of Labor Statistics will be working with the Census Bureau to produce a “Contingent Worker Supplement” to an upcoming Current Population Survey.

The last time that the federal government collected this sort of data was 2005, when the contingent workforce was still comprised largely of self-employed independent contractors.

Maine gov. who says drug dealers impregnate ‘white girls’ wants to ‘bring the guillotine back’ as punishment

Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R) followed up recent complaints about out-of-state drug dealers impregnating “white girls” by suggesting this week that some drug offenses should be punished with public executions.

At a town hall meeting earlier this month, LePage had complained that “guys with the name D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty” were bringing drugs into Maine from Connecticut and New York.

“Incidentally, half the time they impregnate a young white girl before they leave, which is a real sad thing because then we have another issue we have to deal with down the road,” he said.

The governor’s office later insisted that the comments had not been about race.

During LePage’s weekly radio appearance on WTOM on Tuesday, the governor was asked about efforts to increase penalties for drug dealers from out of state.

In cases where drug use resulted in death, LePage argued that “the death penalty should be the law” for dealers.

‘Leaving the gay lifestyle takes more courage than coming out’

Jennifer Roback Morse heads the Ruth Institute, an organization that was formerly associated with the National Organization for Marriage.

Perhaps it goes without saying that Morse wasn’t tickled by President Obama’s discussion of gay rights during last week’s State of the Union Address. Unfortunately, Morse didn’t herself neglect to say that coming out “does not require as much courage” as deciding to “walk away from the gay lifestyle.”

During an interview with the “Issues, Etc.” podcast on Thursday, Morse said:

“Obama talked about the courage required for a young guy to come out to his parents, completely omitting the fact that right now coming out does not require as much courage as is required by a person who says, ‘You know, I feel same-sex attraction, but what I want to do is not act on it, what I want to do is live up to my church’s teachings, what I want to do is walk away from the gay lifestyle that I’ve been living, that’s what I want to do.’ Now, that person, that takes a lot of courage to talk like that in today’s world, but Obama didn’t mention any of those people.”

As for Obama’s mention of parents reconsidering their beliefs in order to accept their gay children, she said that was “tacitly putting every adult in America, every Christian in America, every Lutheran, every serious Jewish person, at war between their religious beliefs and their love for their children.”

Gordon Klingenschmitt may be the most virulently anti-gay candidate to win a state legislative seat this election cycle, but Gary Glenn of Michigan comes in a close second. Glenn, the author of his state’s constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, may not send out warnings about how gay people want to behead Christians or how Democrats are mandating child sexual abuse as Klingenschmitt does, but he has his own special brand of anti-gay politics.

Glenn, a former head of the American Family Association’s Michigan chapter, wants to recriminalize homosexuality, which he says is “a proven threat to public health and safety,” and even filed an unsuccessful lawsuit challenging the 2009 Hate Crimes Prevention Act, falsely alleging that the law would “criminalize the Bible and use the threat of federal prosecutions and long jail sentences to silence Christians.”

Schlafly: GOP Senate's First Priority Should Be Blocking All Judicial Nominees

In a post-election interview with WorldNetDaily — “It’s a terribly important election, and I’m thrilled with it because it’s almost as big as our Republican victory in 1946” — conservative leader Phyllis Schlafly insisted that the first priority of the new GOP-controlled Senate should be to block every single one of President Obama’s judicial nominees:

Dave Daubenmire Is Convinced Obama Is Either 'Mentally Ill Or Demon Possessed'

"Coach" Dave Daubenmire is the sort of Religious Right activist who believes that airplane chemtrails are spreading chemical weapons, openly defends Fred Phelps, entertains conspiracies about 9/11, FEMA camps and martial law, and all-around just doesn't like gays because he is "sick and tired of being sodomized by the left."

With a reasonable record like that, it obviously behooves us all to take seriously Daubenmire's concerns that President Obama's reaction to Republican election victories demonstrates that Obama is an inhuman, demon-possessed sociopath, not unlike Charles Manson or Ted Bundy:_

I am not asking this with my tongue in my cheek. I am as serious as a judge. As I sit here and write, I am listening to Mr. Obama’s press conference. Something is very wrong with this guy. He is either mentally ill or demon possessed. Either choice is a possibility. But something is definitely wrong with him. He seems somehow inhuman.

It Just Never Ends: Glenn Beck Warns That Lower Gas Prices Are 'Actually Not Good' For America

So if falling gas prices are a bad thing and fracking is one factor responsible, doesn't that mean that fracking is a bad thing?

And what about the claim by XL Pipeline proponents that construction and use of the pipeline will hold down gasoline prices.  Again, isn't that bad according to Beck?

While high gas prices were a dire threat to America, according to Beck, so too apparently are low gas prices, as he is now warning that "this is actually not good for the United States of America" because lower oil prices will lead to destabilization in places like Saudi Arabia and Russia, which will lead to war.

"When you destabilize the world even more, it causes more problems," Beck said, "and they will do what they have to do boost the prices around the world. We're not far from war as it is and the economy is in real trouble here. When you have people like Saudi Arabia, unscrupulous, and Russia, totally unscrupulous, and they want their money, they'll get  it",,,

Christian activist: Supporting Obamacare means promoting homosexual ‘deathstyle’

Conservative Christian activist and vlogger ‘Coach’ Dave Daubenmire argued on Saturday that any Christian who supports the Democratic Party is not being true to their faith, in part because the Affordable Care Act is promoting homosexuality.

“Friends, homosexuality is a deathstyle, it’s not a lifestyle,” he said in video posted by Right Wing Watch. “The medical consequences of what homosexuals do is staggering — not only to them, but to the medical care system, the Obamacare. Do you know that when you support Obamacare, you support the medical care of those who are engaged in self-destructive behaviors, including male-on-male sodomy?”

Daubenmire also said that the Democratic Party has used abortion rights and marriage equality as its “main platforms” for attracting voters, which put it on the wrong side of the “laws of nature.”

On today's "News With Views" commentary, "Coach" Dave Daubenmire fumed that gays, who he claimed represent just 3% of the population, are controlling this entire nation while the 80% who are Christian remain utterly silent.

"Why is the 3% pushing around the 80%?," Daubenmire asked rhetorically, before answering his own question by bizarrely asserting that religion and politics "are, in fact, the same" thing.

As Daubenmire sees it, politics is the "playing field" upon which religious values are supposed to be enacted, declaring that, as such, "we are a theocracy" because we are "one nation under God."
