UPDATE::  Grand jury indicts former Conroe priest on child sex abuse charges

A grand jury on Thursday indicted a former Conroe priest on charges stemming from child sex abuse allegations, according to court records.

Manuel La Rosa-Lopez was indicted on two of the four counts of indecency with a child that led to his Sept. 11 arrest, records show. The two charges stem from incidents alleged to have happened to a female parishioner on April 9, 2000, while the cleric was assigned to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montgomery County.

 Two more charges of indecency with a child — in connection to allegations from a male parishioner — have not yet been presented to a grand jury and the investigation remains ongoing, said Tyler Dunman, the head of Montgomery County District Attorney's Office Special Crimes Bureau.

A possible sex abuse scandal involving a local priest is unfolding.

Two people have come forward, saying that Father Manuel La Rosa-Lopez sexually abused children while working at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conroe in the late 1990s to early 2000s.

La Rosa-Lopez is charged with four counts of indecency with a child. He turned himself in to authorities at the Montgomery County Jail on Tuesday.

La Rosa-Lopez currently is assigned to a church in Richmond.

According to court documents, the two alleged victims are not linked, but each came forward recently after seeing news coverage of sex abuse by priests.

Homestead priest accused of drugging, raping parishioner | Miami Herald

Father Jean Claude Jean-Philippe, the parochial vicar at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Homestead, has been charged with sexual battery of an incapacitated victim . He remained jailed Saturday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and has been placed on administrative leave while the allegation is being investigated.

According to a police report, the woman is a parishioner at the church, and Jean-Philippe had even officiated her wedding.

In October, the 64-year-old priest invited her to his home on the church grounds, offering her tea. She passed out and after drinking the tea, according to the police report, she woke up naked in his bed about two hours later.

Troy man accused of hiding cameras in bathroom at church, fun complex

Investigators obtained the camera and examined its footage, which allegedly self-recorded 28-year-old Jeffery Eisenbath installing the device. The footage also showed people entering and exiting the bathroom.

Eisenbath was out of town while the investigation was going on, but law enforcement obtained a search warrant for a computer and recording devices at his home. Eisenbath returned to the area January 22 and was taken into custody in Wentzville while driving. Authorities seized his computer, memory drives, and five covert cameras.

The sheriff's office said Eisenbath confessed to installing the camera at the Adrenaline Zone, as well as a second camera in the bathroom at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

UPDATE::  $1M bond set for priest 

Bond for Father Richard E. Jacklin, the Catholic priest accused for sexually assaulting a Shapiro Developmental Center resident Tuesday, was set at $1 million Thursday in Kankakee County Circuit Court.

In addition, it was stated during the bond hearing that the 39-year-old victim, identified in court only by his initials, has an IQ of 47 and has been a resident at Shapiro since 2010.

The victim also suffers from partial paralysis.

Father Richard E. Jacklin, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Goodrich, was arrested by Illinois State Police on Tuesday and charged with sexually assaulting a resident at Shapiro Developmental Center in Kankakee.

The 65-year-old Jacklin has been preliminarily charged by state police with criminal sexual assault by force and sexual misconduct of a person with a disability.

"We are still gathering information," Kankakee County State's Attorney Jim Rowe told the Daily Journal this morning.

UPDATE::  Former priest John Feit scheduled for arraignment Monday in Irene Garza murder case

Former Priest John Feit will face a judge Monday morning.

State District Judge Luis Singleterry will hold an arraignment hearing for John Bernard Feit, 83, of Scottsdale, Arizona, at 9 a.m. Monday. Feit is charged with murder, a first-degree felony.

Investigators believe Feit killed McAllen beauty queen Irene Garza in April 1960.

UPDATE:: Extradition hearing today for Feit 

The former priest accused of murdering a McAllen beauty queen is set to appear for his first extradition hearing since his arrest.

John Feit, 83, the man long suspected by many of killing Irene Garza more than five decades ago remains in custody of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, where he has sat for more than two weeks as he awaits for the extradition process to run its course.

Feit is scheduled to appear Wednesday in Maricopa Superior Court.

An ex-priest was arrested 55 years after he allegedly killed a Texas beauty queen whose body was found in a canal after she went to him for confession.

John Feit, 83, was busted Tuesday night in Scottsdale, Arizona, on a murder rap out of Hildago County, Texas, where the then 27-year-old pastor heard confession by Irene Garza, a one-time Miss South Texas.

Garza, 25 at the time, a second-grade teacher, was last seen April 16, 1960, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McAllen, Texas, according to the Texas Rangers law enforcement authorities. Her parents reported her missing when she didn’t return home.

Her car was located near the church and her body was found five days later in the canal.
