Jim Bakker: 'ISIS Has Infiltrated Every Single Church In America'

Urging viewers to purchase survivalist food buckets from his ministry, Bakker said that people must prepare for the worst since, after all, “a person that I understand knows what they are talking about ISIS has already infiltrated every single church in America.”

Bakker was likely referring to Rick Wiles, who appeared on his show last month to warn that “Muslims in the Middle East are bragging that they have infiltrated every Christian church in America.”

In turn, Wiles cited Avi Lipkin, a fellow conspiracy theorist who believes that Muslim “spies” have infiltrated “all” churches in the U.S. Lipkin also thinks that the Free Masons, Illuminati and the Trilateral Commission run the world and President Obama plans to settle 100 million Muslims in America on “lands confiscated by Agenda 21.”

While I sympathize with Sanderson, he is attending a private Catholic high school that makes its own rules.  That aside, it does not diminish the asinine reaction of the school nor the commissioner Clark Plunk.

And exactly what evidence does Barber cite? None to be exact, because none exists that can back up claim.  Even the document he does cite, courtesy of Peter LaBarbera even states,

These "cases" are only allegations from a 20 year period that predates mandated background check which began in 1993 with the National Child Protection Act.  A point the Hemant also points out, "I’ll state the obvious: Even if the BSA allowed in openly gay troop leaders, they would have to pass the same background checks and training courses as everyone else."

Other than massive schisms in their internal processing, I don't see how the christian right can call LGBT people 'horrible child molesters' in the same breath as they defend Josh Duggar. Especially since the evidence of the later seems substantial where as the former is speculative.

Phyllis Schlafly: Introduce Male Quotas And End Student Loans To Reduce Female College Enrollment

Distraught that women are outpacing men in college enrollments, Eagle Forum founder Phyllis Schlafly took to WorldNetDaily this week to float the idea that colleges should enforce a gender quota to even out admissions to the benefit of men. Responding to a 2010 New York Times article, Schlafly wondered if colleges should set male admissions quotas to ensure that student bodies are “half women and half men.”

Another proposal Schlafly put in the mix is to “stop granting college loans, thereby forcing students to take jobs to pay for their tuition and eliminate time for parties, perhaps even wiping out time for fraternities and sororities.”

Schlafly also called for colleges to stop enforcing Title IX, which prevents sex discrimination in education, as a way to attract men, alleging that the anti-discrimination measure “removes a primary motivation for young men to go to college, many of whom want to try out for a sport even if they are not good enough to make the team.”

All of this, the right-wing activist insists, would actually benefit women because it would give them more available men to date.

Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel appeared on Tuesday’s edition of “Crosstalk,” Voice of Christian Youth America’s flagship radio program, where he argued that homosexuality will destroy civilization as we know it.

When a caller cited Cleon Skousen’s 1956 book “The Naked Communist” to claim that homosexuality is part of a communist endeavor “to soften America for the final takeover,” Staver completely agreed: “Yes, Skousen has a lot of good writings. In fact, he mentioned that many years ago and here’s where we are today.”

Earlier this week, the New York Times reported on the efforts of a group of church-state separation activists, led by Todd Stiefel, who are trying to remove long-forgotten articles in seven state constitutions that require people holding public office to believe in God.

Judge Allows Glenn Beck Boston Marathon Defamation Lawsuit To Move Forward

Following the Boston Marathon bombing last year, Glenn Beck set out on a mission to prove that the government was engaged in a massive conspiracy to cover up the truth, during which he repeatedly asserted that one of the victims who was injured in the attack was really an al Qaeda operative responsible for the bombing.

In the weeks following the bombing, Beck repeatedly insisted that Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi, a spectator who was briefly considered to be a "person of interest" by investigators though quickly exonerated, was really an al Qaeda "control agent" and the "money man" who had financed the entire operation and had recruited the Tsarnaev brothers to carry it out.

In response to these unfounded claims, Alharbi eventually sued Beck for defamation and slander, and Beck's lawyers responded by trying to get the lawsuit thrown out on the grounds that Alharbi was "involuntary public figure" which would require Alharbi to prove not simply that Beck made false accusations against him, but that he did so with "actual malice."

Of course, it was Beck himself who continued to focus attention on Alharbi, meaning that Beck's legal team was essentially arguing that Alharbi became a public figure as a result of Beck's attacks ... which they said means that Alharbi cannot now sue Beck for those very same attacks because he was a public figure.

Needless to say, this novel legal argument did not get very far with the federal judge hearing the case:

The curious case of Dr. Albert Mohler

Dr. Albert Mohler is a prominent Southern Baptist, serving as the president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has always, in my experience, been an uncompromising advocate for the authority of Scripture on matters great and small, including human sexuality.

However, he seems to have been drawn into the gravitational pull of Russell Moore, the president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC), who has already admitted defeat in the culture war over the definition of marriage, and seems to believe the best we can hope for is to be left with some vestiges of religious liberty which we can exercise furtively inside the four walls of our churches.

One of the strangest things about anti-gay hate groups and their constituents is that they are so convinced that they are right (without any evidence for that), and that their horror stories about LGBT people are true (without any evidence for that either), that they justify going to any lengths to hurt LGBT families, somehow thinking that if only they fight hard enough, they can eradicate us. What is ignored is the concerted effort by "military leaders, under pressure from Congress and the White House to eliminate rape from the ranks."  Despite Barber's innuendo, it was not the assaults that were out of hand but the atmosphere has changed.

I would rather read an "offensive" article about "sexual identity politics" focusing on an "individual's abhorrent sexual proclivities and his lifestyle choices" than one filled with false interpretation and misleading data presented as truth.

One last thing,

The Washington Times reported on the findings earlier this year, quoting a homosexual in the story who claimed the male-on-males assaults weren't done by homosexuals – that they were more like prison rapes.

Well fucking DUH!! Doesn't matter if you're gay or straight, rape is rape. Rape is power.  It is kind of the whole point in doing the survey and implementing changes based on the findings.

When a man alleged a sexual assault, wrongful sexual contact and forcible sodomy were the charges most frequently investigated.

Military data show that the typical perpetrator is a man who has served longer in the military than his victim and holds a higher rank. In most cases, the assailant identifies as heterosexual.

Roger Canaff, who has trained Army lawyers in prosecuting sexual assault cases, says many attacks amount to a particularly violent form of hazing.

It "isn't necessarily seen as a sexual act," says Canaff, a former prosecutor in New York and Virginia. "It's seen as a humiliating act. It's the ultimate act of emasculation.

You see that in fraternity life, sometimes. You see that in the civilian world. The military has it also."

I spoke with Justin on the phone the other night, and he cleared some things up about his story. It has been reported that the church outed him, and the way their letter reads, it does sound that way. However, that is simply not true. Justin told me that, when he was hired, he made the powers-that-be at the church aware of his sexuality, and they decided to essentially look the other way. He was single at the time, and he thinks they were under the impression that he planned to stay that way. He worked there for a while, but eventually ended up leaving the church and moving almost three-thousand miles away. At this point, Justin wasn’t too keen on participating in a religious congregation that would condemn him for who he was, so needless to say, he didn’t seek out a new PCA church in his hometown. Over the next two years, Justin stayed friendly with a few of the people from that church, and that led to a recent tense conversation with a ruling elder from the church, somebody he also considered to be his friend. You see, Justin was dating somebody at the time, and made no secret of it. So it was that, from three-thousand miles away, that ruling elder contacted him about his breach of PCA rules and regulations. Justin asked the guy (it’s a guy — the PCA doesn’t allow women to do so much as teach Sunday School without a man present) if this was a friendly call or an “official” call, to which the elder replied that it was a little of both.

Before, Justin had been under the impression that the PCA would let him leave in, as he put it, “quiet disgrace,” agreeing to disagree about doctrine, his sexuality and what have you. It seems, however, that it’s easier to leave the Mormon or Catholic churches than it is to get your name removed from the PCA rolls, even from three-thousand miles away.

But cracks are starting to develop in the foundation. Those religious leaders with a sense of nuance and a grasp on reality can no longer pretend that they don’t notice that LGBT people have been deeply wounded by the church. Those with eyes open realize that the “ex-gay” movement has been discredited beyond repair, that it has absolutely no basis in reality, and that it has a long track record of sending people into deep spirals of depression and, tragically, suicide. No rational, feeling human being can acknowledge that track record and continue to support the “ex-gay” movement. No rational, feeling human being can watch conservative Christian parents disowning their gay kids and kicking them out on the street and judge that act as anything but evil.

I noted in that press release that the most important parts of this discussion about equality and inclusion are no longer happening in the mainstream public consciousness. The public, as it were, already supports full equality. Marriage equality is sweeping the nation, and despite a few dead-end governors wasting their citizens’ taxpayer dollars trying to forestall the inevitable, it’s being greeted with little more than a shrug. Sure, there may be 40 or 45 percent of the public that, at least going by the poll numbers, are against it, but one gets the sense that the anti’s just don’t care that much anymore.

Indeed. But that’s the entire point I’m getting at. The true divide, the true developing chasm, is between conservative Christians who are struggling and wrestling with this issue — the ones who don’t want to be hateful, who don’t gay kids to be homeless, but they believe that homosexuality is sin, etc. — and the dead-ender, hate-mongering hardliners like Bryan Fischer, Greg Quinlan and Matt Barber. Those men and others like them will likely live out their lives, watching their allies die, never to be replaced, and eventually die themselves, and with that, their movement. But millions of conservative Christians will evolve, slowly but surely, and one day they’ll forget there was ever a time when they didn’t accept LGBT people.

Their kids will be leading the way,,,

As federal courts legalized same-sex marriage in several new states this week, Matt Barber unsurprisingly railed against the trend in an appearance on “The Janet Mefferd Show” yesterday. Barber insisted that judges shouldn’t be making decisions regarding state marriage laws, before adding that even state legislatures don’t “have the right” to pass marriage equality laws.

“This doesn’t even belong in the courts,” he told Mefferd. “Marriage is what marriage is, you can no more redefine marriage than you can suspend the laws of gravity. They can say they’re going to do it but it doesn’t alter reality, so the fact is this matter doesn’t belong in the courts. States don’t even have the right to redefine marriage, it’s like saying I want to redefine purple.”

“Gay marriage and religious freedom cannot coexist in harmony,” Barber predicted. “We are going to see more and more anti-Christian persecution and discrimination at levels we could not have imagined. People are starting to see that this is really about attacking Christians and Christianity more so than it’s about this euphemistic ‘marriage equality’ nonsense that they’re throwing out there.”

The 'Ex-Gay' Movement's Dangerous New Myths | The Bilerico Project

In the past few years, as the "ex-gay" movement has sputtered and died, many within that movement -- and some of their religiously conservative supporters -- have begun pushing some ideas to get lesbians and gays to stop having sex. Or more specifically, get lesbians and gays to stop having, well, gay sex.

Matt Moore, who was part of the "ex-gay" movement (and then got caught with a Grindr account), has stopped saying that gays can be cured... except if God makes it happen. Somehow. He occasionally writes for the virulently anti-LGBT website Barbwire.com, run by hate group leader Matt Barber. Mr. Moore is now pushing the "celibate gay" narrative.

He isn't the only one: institutions like the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) have tried to soften their image by changing their stance on "same-sex attraction": it may not be "curable," they now say, but lesbians and gays are welcome to join if they stay celibate or marry members of the opposite sex.

Not only are these narratives completely impractical, they are incredibly damaging on so many levels.

In one of Mr. Moore's most recent articles, he used the word "sin" no less than 22 times in 924 words. That works out to once every other sentence or so. Obsessing over how nasty, wicked, disgusting, and abominable you are can't be healthy. Trust me: been there, done that, got the refrigerator magnet at the end of therapy. If you feel like you have to choose between being Christian and being gay, you don't -- there are plenty of Christian denominations that accept gay people, celibate or not.

And it starts.

As I suspected when this case first hit, the real motivation comes forth. Nothing the Reich does is "individually" motivated (this is not about the Green's personally held religious convictions) and as I have posted before, it centers around a point made by Michael Meyerson in writing about Newland v. Sebilius.

The Supreme Court has consistently held that religious organizations have the power to decide for themselves, free from governmental interference, matters of internal discipline and governance. Thus, the courts are barred from stepping in to settle a dispute over which of two religious factions is the rightful owner of particular church property. Judges may not question a church's interpretation of its own internal documents.

If such rights were extended to for-profit corporations, much of modern corporate law would have to be discarded. By describing their internal structure as one of a religious hierarchy, those running a corporation could engage in all manner of manipulation free from the fear of governmental oversight or judicial review. Many private employees would be vulnerable, for the first time since the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, to discriminatory treatment due to the religious preferences of their employers.

The special protection that is given to religious organizations so that they are free to perform their religious functions cannot logically or properly be ripped from its rightful context and applied to secular, for-profit corporations.

In other words, the Reich will "now" be able to exempt themselves from any laws that they don’t like; that they find “religiously’ objectionable.” In Peter LaBarbera's own words, "LGBT Left has been winning in the courts, but now we have hope that SCOTUS will honor small biz conscience exemptions on homosexuality."

Regretfully I do not share in the optimism of Dylan Scott over at TPM:

While the company Hobby Lobby triumphed at the U.S. Supreme Court in challenging Obamacare's contraceptive mandate on Monday, the Court does not seem to have flung opened the floodgates for anti-LGBT discrimination as some had feared it might.

Based on initial readings of the Hobby Lobby decision, LGBT advocates seemed to have dodged a bullet. The Court's ruling, written by conservative Justice Samuel Alito, is explicitly narrow in effect. But some advocates worry that those pushing anti-LGBT bills will see an opening to introduce new bills and file new lawsuits to legitimize discrimination. Whether they'd win, though, is much less clear.

An open letter to homosexuals

Not sure yet if I will "respond" to this point by point, but in general Barber commits 6 errors in his thinking, and that's only in the first few paragraphs. Hence why I may not waste my time on this religious rhetoric:

1] Presupposes that God exists
2] Accept that God inspired the writing of the Bible and is therefore true
3] That his religion is the ONLY true religion
4] That his religion should have dominion over the whole of our nation (and world) and all facets of our lives
5] Non-believers are subject to his religion's laws and dictates and they trump the statutory laws of the land
6] He denies science in regards to what is natural and unnatural

This has the Reich up in arms, specifically Liberty Counsel's Matt Barber. What fascinates me is Barber's focus on Milk's sexuality, ignoring the fact that Milk fought for the rights of the elderly, small business owners, and the many ethnic communities in his district as well as for the growing LGBT community.

Barber's acceptance of the misinformation that Milk was "an evil man based on his [statutory] rape of teenage boys" leads to one conclude, if it fits into a broader narrative and agenda in conservative Christian circles, then what is a bit of fact twisting going to hurt.

Fact, Harvey Milk was never arrested, charged or tried for statutory rape. He took his role as a gay leader and his mission in life very seriously and I highly doubt he would have jeopardized his ability to lead by messing around with under age kids. There are no credible sources to say he did so and misrepresenting what Randy Shiltz's wrote does not make one credible. There is nothing to this but the echo effect. Basically, saying the lie loud enough and long enough to hope people believe it.

And Mr. Barber, saying it was "swept under the rug" doesn't make it true. Please show the world police reports, affidavits, and other legal documents to support your claim that Milk was "a pederast and a sexual predator." Innuendo by fellow Reich members doesn't count, ie Randy Thomasson and Daniel Flynn

In a 2008 radio interview with Concerned Women for America, Dols shared of how – as a physically disabled teen – the “very nice” Harvey Milk had encouraged him in 1977 to run away from his Minnesota home and come to San Francisco."

Fact, according to Dols own words, "I said to Don Amador, "Hi I need to run away. My family is abusive and I am being smothered. I need to get away. I'm gay and need help." Dols already had the idea of "running away" prior to speaking with Milk. Fact, Dols was 18 when he left home, not a run-a-way. Like others, Mr Barber doesn’t care about the truth of his accusations; has nothing to do with truth. Being the heathen that I am I wager it has to do more with Jeffersons, Franklins, and Washingtons. (Which Reminds me, why aren't you all up in arms over their depiction on our money?? Am I to assume you condone slavery??) If you tell a hater what they want to hear, help them to justify their hatred and give them an opportunity to join the "struggle against an evil agenda” then the hater will send you money. Got to love hate profiteers. Foment hatred for a marginalized group . Then start a "crusade" against them and haters will send you cash.

Barber is attempting to demonize Paganism, creating the THEM of an "Us vs Them" thought process. We are right, all others are wrong in their beliefs, therefore they need to be removed. They have a flaw, they aren't human,,,and so on.

I don't understand how individuals such as Barber and Crampton can sleep at night. Not because of the religious rhetoric that flows from their mouths, but the constant fear that they must live with on a day to day basis. Their dreams must be filled with endless torment and suffering, wondering if they meet up to the expectations of their god. How many nights do they lay awake fearing sleep because they might not wake up?? God punishing them for some minor indiscretion.

"We are going to find ourselves," Crampton warned, "in grave danger. And so our being embarrassed by a cross on a pitcher's mound is shameful and you can bet that the Creator of Heaven and Earth is not turning a blind eye to what is going on in America today."

I highly doubt god is worried about a man-made, idolized symbol on a pitchers mound in some ballpark on planet earth. He should be more worried about the hunger and starvation, the hatred and vitriol his so-called followers seem to care nothing about.
